welcome. Well, I'm going to have a little different kind of program today. Sometimes in the past, I've done some programs about how a song came to be written and what the author was going through at the time.
But these songs are actually a type of story song. Because the words are really important for you to understand the song, I'm going to read the lyrics in a moment. And as I play the song, I believe you'll be encouraged and blessed.
This first song is about the time when Jesus walked on the earth doing miracles. A young businessman is telling us his story. He says, I was working in town one afternoon attending some business affairs.
I heard a commotion a couple streets over and wondered what's happening there. A young man was running from that direction and stopped just to catch his breath. I asked him to please tell me what was the hurry.
He said, I was trying to catch the crippled man. Did he run past this way? He was rushing home to tell everyone what Jesus did today.
And the mute man, who couldn't talk before Jesus healed him, was telling myself and the deaf girl, who couldn't hear before Jesus healed her, he's leaving to answer God's call. It's hard to believe if you don't trust me. Ask the blind man, he saw it all.
Go ask the blind man, he saw it all. So, my friend, if the troubles and burdens you carry are heavy and dragging you down, you've tried everything you can possibly think of, but there's no relief to be found. That very same Jesus that altered the future of the blind man, the deaf and the lame, is still reaching out to you in your hour of trouble.
One touch and you'll never the same. It's hard to believe, but if you don't trust me, ask the blind man, he saw it all. Go ask the blind man, he saw it all.
Now, here is the quartet, the Booth brothers singing.
Oh yes, it's hard to believe, but if you don't trust me, ask the blind man, he saw it all. This was the man who couldn't see until Jesus touched him. Dear friends, if you need Jesus to touch you, just come to him.
He loves you so much, and has promised to never leave you or forsake you, no matter what is happening in your world. Well, here are some of the lyrics from this next song, titled, Go Ask Moses. Questions in life are common.
Answers are hard to find. So if you need a friend to call on, here's a name from days gone by. Go ask Moses how it feels when God says I'll depend on you.
Go ask Moses how a bush on fire will make you lose your shoes. Go ask Moses how it feels to watch as the mighty Red Sea closes. If you need another witness from another time and place, if you need a testimony of God's power and His grace, if you need to be reminded that God always makes a way, I'll give you a name.
Go ask Moses. Moses would feel unworthy to help set his people free. But when he saw that bush a-burning, he knew he must believe.
So if you're facing a hard decision, and you feel like your faith is small, friend, you're not the first to question. Moses found God rules it all. Go ask Moses how it feels when God says, I'll depend on you.
If you need a testimony of God's power and his grace, if you need to be reminded that God always makes a way, I'll give you a name. Go ask Moses. So now here's the Mark Trammell quartet singing, Go Ask Moses.
If you need another witness from another time and place, if you need a testimony of God's power and his grace, if you need to be reminded that God always makes a way, go ask Moses. Oh friends, I hope these story songs are helping your hope to rise. There are so many stories in the Bible to encourage us as we see how God helped people.
It's wonderful to hear the stories in song, isn't it? Oh, what a promise. The Bible says that God never changes.
He's the same yesterday, today, and forever. Well, this next song is called Four Days Late. It's the story of a friend of Jesus, Lazarus.
And here are some of the words. The news came to Jesus. Please come fast.
Lazarus is sick, and without your help, he will not last. Mary and Martha watched their brother die. They waited for Jesus, but he did not come, and they wondered why.
The death watch was over, buried four days. Then somebody said he'll soon be here. The Lord's on his way.
Martha ran to him, and then she cried, Lord, if you had been here, you could have healed him. He'd still be alive. But you're four days late, and all hope is gone.
Lord, we don't understand why you've waited so long. Jesus said, Martha, show me the grave. But she said, Lord, you don't understand.
He's been there four days. The gravestone was rolled back. Then Jesus cried, Lazarus, come forth.
And then somebody said, he's alive, he's alive. Isn't it great when he's four days late, he's still on time. You may be fighting a battle of fear.
You've cried to the Lord, I need you now. But he has not appeared. Friend, don't be discouraged, because he's still the same.
He'll soon be here. He'll roll back the stone, and he'll call out your name. Isn't it great?
When he's four days late, he's still on time. So here is Karen Peck and Friends singing Four Days Late.
He'll call out your name. Isn't it great when he's four days late? He's still on time.
Oh yes, when you think about it, there have been times in your life as in mine, when I thought it was such a mess and it could never get fixed. But then Jesus helped me and brought peace to my situation. And I know he'll do that for you too.
Well, this next song is more of a modern day story song. I played it for you some time ago, but didn't read the words. And it's become one of my favorite songs because I need to be reminded often that Jesus loves me and you too.
So here are the words. When you feel forgotten, when you feel you're all alone, when you feel like giving up, when you feel discouraged and everything's uncertain, when you feel you're just not good enough, when it's slipping through your hands and you've done all you can, and there's still so much more to do, it's easy to forget in a time like this, Jesus loves you and he cares about everything you're going through. Your name is engraved on the palm of his hands, and that's a promise you can hold on to.
It's easy to forget in times like this that Jesus loves you. When the funeral is over, the casseroles are gone, and you're about as broken as can be. When the sun ain't shining, the nights are too long, and the weight of it all drives you to your knees.
I've been where you are, when God just seems so far, and I need to be reminded too. It's easy to forget in times like this, Jesus loves you, and he cares about everything you're going through. Your name is engraved on the palm of his hands, and that's a promise you can hold on to.
It's easy to forget in times like this, but Jesus loves you. Well, here are Jeff and Sherry Easter singing Jesus Loves You.
Yes, it's easy to forget in times like this. Jesus loves you, and he cares about everything you're going through. Your name is engraved on a palm of his hands, and that's a promise you can hold on to.
Jesus loves you. Oh, I love that song. I often need to be reminded that Jesus loves me, and you too.
And did you know that in the Bible, in Isaiah 49, 16, it says, like the song said, God has engraved your name on the palm of his hand, so he can always be thinking about you. Isn't that amazing? So even in these most difficult times that we're going through, more than ever, we need to take time to read the Bible and spend time with Jesus.
I have found in these days that the Psalms have become my comfort. Before David was king, he went through many times of fear for his life. He was hungry and cold and betrayed by his friends, devalued by his brothers, and over and over he wrote that God was his comfort and refuge, his fortress, his safety.
Oh dear friends, I hope these story songs have been a blessing to you as they are to me. And they're all based on scripture from the Bible. It's so amazing to think of Jesus healing the blind man and the deaf girl, as it's said in the first song.
And one time the Apostle Paul wrote that there were not enough books in the whole world to write all of the miracles that Jesus did while he was here on earth. And oh, what a blessing to know. The Bible also says that God never changes.
He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Well, maybe you need to receive healing in your body. Maybe you need to receive peace from him, from all the stress that's going on in the world today.
Take some time to read the Bible. And besides the Psalms, in the Book of John, you will be reminded again and again that Jesus loves you. Yes, Jesus is the same as when he walked on this earth.
Jesus wants to be with you in whatever you're facing. His word is strong and true, and he loves you. Well, if you don't have a Bible, write to me and I'll send one to you.
And as we close the program, I hope you'll write to me. It would be a privilege to pray for you for the issues that you're facing during these difficult times. And if you can help to support this program so we can keep it on your station, I'd appreciate it so much.
God bless you and keep you safe in his loving arms. And remember, you can put your hope in God.

Welcome to Psalms Of Hope with Samantha Landy, author of over 20 books, businesswoman, magazine columnist, Bible teacher, international conference speaker, and distinguished woman of the year from Northwood University. The scripture says in Isaiah 55 11, So shall my word be that goes forth from my mouth. It shall not return to me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
It is Samantha's desire to fulfill this scripture, encircling the earth with God's word and God-honoring music, bringing the message of jesus and his love to you. And now, here's Samantha.
Welcome to Psalms Of Hope. Oh, I know you're going to love this program. Do you remember as a child following the small dots on the page to create a picture you could not imagine when you were only looking at the dots?
But following the dots, a wonderful horse appears, or beautiful flower, or even a cat. With what I call our own destiny dots, sometimes we can't see God's handiwork until we have finished that episode in our lives. You know, there have always been defining moments in history, whether our own personal history, history of our nation, or the history of the world.
Many of the defining moments, what I call God's destiny dots, in our own personal history, and that of my friends, have not been chronicled, nor have we looked at many of those seemingly unimportant events as part of who we have become. And yet, the silver thread running through these shared moments is the display of God's faithfulness in small things, as well as the dramatic events of our lives. You may have seen those charts that evaluate the stress level when certain events take place in our lives.
Even happy events or destiny dots, like the birth of a child, can also create stress. So our destiny dots may or may not be stressful, merely a happening in our lives, but nevertheless a part of who we become. And for anyone who has jesus in their heart, they will tell you that when they receive jesus into their life, when that event occurred, it certainly was one of God's destiny dots.
A time when their life took a whole new turn. A time when sometimes even friends changed, and their destiny certainly changed. They were now going to heaven.
Yes, as we draw close to jesus, even at the times of various destiny dots, it's important to keep our thoughts on God's power and His love for us. And we need to remember the promise from jesus that He will never leave us or forsake us, no matter what we're going through. Well, there's a very special song I want to play for you now.
It's a song of majesty to our Messiah. And when we are at a turning point in our lives, one of the very best things we can do to help us through our destiny dots is to simply stop and worship our Lord. So worship with me as we listen to the group called Praise and Worship.
As they sing, let it rise.
Oh, what a wonderful song of praise to our Lord. Well, the subject for this program is God's Destiny Dots in Our Lives. Before the song, I talked about the big turning points in life.
Death of a loved one, health issues, even positive events, like moving to a new city. Well, in addition to the big issues of life, in my own life, and I imagine yours, there have been what we might call little destiny dots in life. Sometimes they occur without our even noticing it.
Last summer, we went to Southern California to the beach for a few days. While sitting on the balcony of our friend's home, I watched the sailboats go by. I noticed that they don't make a big turnabout.
No, the owner of the sailboat sits at the rudder and makes small, incremental changes to make a course correction as they continue to face into the wind toward their destination. And in my life, I've been grateful when God has helped me correct my own course, when I've made a bad decision, when I've been impatient or angry. It makes me grateful that God sees the bigger picture of my life and will guide me if I let him.
Yes, it's what we do with those small correction moments in our lives, in our relationships, and in our walk with God that makes a difference. Then no matter what happens, when we willingly submit to the destiny that God brings into our lives, we can stay with the Apostle Paul in Romans 8 28. For I know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose.
It may take some time, so we can see our situation in hindsight. But I know God's word is true. He will work things out for our good.
God is a true and trustworthy and faithful God. Yes, it is the faithfulness of God that reminds you that he will work on your behalf. Now, here is Larry Ford singing that wonderful old hymn.
To the Psalms Of Hope program. And on this program, I've been talking about God's destiny dots in our lives, and that he will help us learn from our destiny dots, the course corrections he brings into our lives. Last summer, as my husband Randy and I were sitting on the balcony by the beach having coffee, he said, wow, look at the size of that riptide.
And as I looked, it stretched for blocks along the beach, reaching way out into the water. As we watched, the riptide became even bigger. And in the muddy, roiling water, suddenly huge chunks of dark brown seaweed were dredged off the ocean floor and rolled to the top of the waves, often being left on the beach as the waves receded.
Well, in thinking about this program, I wondered if sometimes when you feel you're in a riptide, that the ocean of life is so strong that you're being tossed about by the events of your life. Do those events sometimes bring out the worst in you? And perhaps out of the depths of your being come words of jealousy, resentment, rage, any myriad of emotions, flung around on anyone who happens to be there.
And yes, like the ugly brown seaweed, it gets tossed up on the beach of your life for everyone to see. Well, I have to admit, a short time ago, someone wrote me a letter needing a reply. But I was rather overwhelmed at the time, and my reply some weeks later was not as loving as I should have been.
I probably made them feel like they were a bother, rather than a friend that I appreciate. I think my ugly brown seaweed was tossed around, and I'm still sad I wasn't as caring as I actually feel. Since they haven't replied back, I guess I lost a dear friend.
Sometimes our destiny dots, as I talked about in the past segment, may be caused by the stress in our own lives. But oh, what a blessing to know that the beach patrol, our precious jesus, will come alongside you and help you clean up the mess. There's a song that says, there is no problem too big, God cannot solve it.
There's no mountain too tall, God cannot move it. Listen with me now, as the Gaither vocal band sings, He will carry you.
Yes, God will help us with our problems, won't he? On this program, I've been talking about the destiny dots in our lives. For years, I've been writing columns in newspapers and magazines.
I've also written 14 books. Well, my newest book is on God's destiny dots. You can get it from my website.
In my book, there are many stories of the various destiny dots in my life and others that I've written about. One story was of Alice, who had begun riding her bicycle in races across the country at age 15. But at 30, she came down with an illness that prevented her from cycling in races again.
One day, she read some stories about missionaries who have to walk many miles from village to village. And so she began raising money for bicycles for them. Now, 20 years later, she has given over 1,500 bikes in 89 countries, not only to missionaries, but special bikes for disabled people as well.
With God's prompting, what appeared to be the end of her dreams, God has used as a destiny dot to give her an even bigger dream. Are you to place in your life where your dreams haven't seemed to work out? They seem to dissipate in the wake of your difficulties?
One of my favorite ministers recently said, Has your dream not come true? Did it just not work out as you planned? Well, don't get stuck there.
Ask God to give you a new dream. Yes, that's what I'm saying to you, dear listeners. Let God use those destiny dots in your life, even that riptide that almost overwhelmed you, to give you a new dream, a new vision, so you can get your joy and excitement of life back.
Yes, friends, no matter what your age, God always has something for you to do. It may be as simple as a kind word, a hug or a smile, or it may be a brand new dream like Alice had, a dream so big that only God can help you accomplish it. There's a song that says, Show me where you brought me from and where I could have been.
Here is Dottie Rambo singing her song, Oh, I hope you were encouraged by Dottie Rambeau's song. I have so many friends who've used the destiny dots of their lives, even sometimes the riptide, to dream new dreams, to reach out to their world in new ways. And like the apostles who were just ordinary people, yet they spread the good news about jesus all over the known world, people today are using their changes, their destiny dots, to ignite new vision in their own lives.
A friend of ours, Herb, had retired from the movie industry in Hollywood due to some heart problems, and not long after, his beloved wife died. Retirement made him feel useless, and now with his wife gone, he had lost his zest for life, just going from one day to the next. Well, one day he joined my husband Randy in a new project, and now when we meet with him, he laughs a lot and loves each day that God gives him, even in the difficult times.
Recently, his adult son mentioned to us that he was glad to have his dad back with the old sparkle in his eye and his zest for living. Had he not retired from the rat race of Hollywood, he would not have been able to dream new dreams. Are you feeling useless, over the hill, too old for God to use?
You may want to check out my website. My new book, God's Destiny Dots, will be a source of encouragement for you to help you learn and grow from your own destiny dots of life. Well, I hope you've enjoyed our time together as well as the music.
Do email or write to me, and for any size donation, ask for the CD of this program or any others that have ministered to you. I hope you'll write to me today. And do tune in same time, same place next week.
This is Samantha Landy, and it's my prayer that you will put your hope in God.

Welcome. Well, I'm so happy we have this time together. I love that you're joining me today, and I envision each one of you, some I've met and many I hope to meet in the future.
So today, I'm just going to call this program Good and Plenty, with lots of ideas to encourage you. And of course, I'm going to play some wonderful music for you, too. I do have to admit that I have a sweet tooth.
Of all the candies I love, Good and Plenty is near the top of the list. Life is good when I have a handful of those luscious sugar-coated licorice pieces. You know, interestingly, my son Randall loves them, too.
I guess it's time to send him a box of the good stuff. Well, you know, there are a lot of good things we can experience in life. But like a feast of the Good and Plenty licorice candy, the goodness is soon over.
Even the best of things can leave us feeling empty and even regretful if we put all of our hope in that one event. So when King David declared in Psalm 16 2, You are my Lord. Apart from you, I have no good thing.
That intrigues me. I wonder, when was the last time we embraced God as the ultimate good in our life rather than some event or even some person? But then David continues, explaining just how good God really is.
In Psalm 16 verse 1, he says that God is our preserver. Verse 4, our heritage. Verse 7, our council.
And in verse 11, he writes that God is the one who makes known the path of life for us and fills us with joy. Oh, now that's what I call good. Yes, as we think of God and his provision for us, I think we'll be able to sing along with this group called Women Together in Worship as they sing, You are worthy of my praise.
Yes, truly God is worthy of our praise. Well, I'm so thankful you tuned in today. You know, a writer friend of mine, Julie, wrote about how excited she was when she found out that an astronaut would be taking a copy of Our Daily Bread with him into outer space on the shuttle Atlantis.
She quickly looked to see which of her devotionals that she had written in that issue that he'd be reading. The idea of having her words read in outer space seemed, well, pretty amazing, she said, for a small town kid. And then she had another thought.
Why do I consider this such a big deal? When I pray, my words are heard in heavenly places and the God who created the universe listens to my words. Why be more awestruck when a human reads my words than having the Almighty God hear what I pray?
Yes, those special events in our lives are for us to enjoy. But when we put them in a level of importance that we think we have to have it to make us happy, it often loses its joy, doesn't it? Do you want to feel good about your life?
Well, I have the answer for you. It's not things or events that will make you happy. The Apostle Paul spoke about it in 1st Corinthians 10-4.
He wrote, And by a miracle, God sent them food to eat and water to drink there in the desert. They drank the water that Christ gave them. He was with them as the mighty rock of spiritual refreshment.
Yes, it's that spiritual refreshment from the Lord our rock that gives us joy.
Oh, thank goodness, if we have Jesus in our heart, then our foot is on the rock, Jesus. Well, I'm Samantha Landy, and my theme for this program is Good and Plenty. It's actually the name of a licorice candy that I love, but it's also a good description of God.
He is a good God, and he has plenty of miracles to shower upon us. Now, most people would agree that life is a mixture of good and not so good and sometimes even bad. But through the years of walking with Jesus Christ, I found that the more I keep believing his promises, the more I can see good in my life.
However, bad things do happen, and there is evil in the world. But there was evil in the world at the time the apostles lived, too. In fact, Paul wrote to the Christians in Rome and said, Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
Yes, we may be surprised when self-centeredness, resentment, or anger takes the stage within our fellowship or our marriage or any other relationship. But the Apostle John exhorts us to be patient and humble, to desire, to restore our relationships, to follow after good. Well, as the minister friend of mine says, God is a good God, and he desires to bless his children.
And it's in learning more about God and his wonderful promises in the Bible that makes it possible to really believe that God is a good God. Well, there's a wonderful song that is My Heart's Cry, and I hope it is yours too. Here is Frank boggs singing.
Oh, I want to know God more. I hope that's your hearse cry today too. I've been talking about God being a good God in this program, and recently I had the joy of experiencing the beauty of a good and generous God.
While visiting my younger son Randall and his wife Kay in Spokane, we had lunch at the Davenport Hotel. It's an old opulent hotel from a bygone era. But what reminded me most of God's generosity was the largest arrangement of flowers I think I've ever seen sitting on a polished antique table in the middle of the lobby.
The flowers were bursting with color arching way over my head, and the fragrance from the wondrous variety of flowers was amazing. Yes, God created such variety. In fact, I posted the picture on Facebook this morning.
And other memories that come to my mind are walking out in the mountains in Montana with the pine needles crunching under my feet, releasing the rich scent of pine, or the marvelous high-flying clouds changing colors in the sunset, or the honking of a flight of geese high in the sky as they wind their way south for the winter. These and many more images come to my mind, created by the generosity of our loving God. Ephesians 3.20 reminds us that he is able to do exceedingly, abundantly, more than we can ask or think.
Yes, his grace is sufficient for any difficulty that comes our way. No wonder King David rejoiced when he said, How precious is your loving kindness, O God. Well, there's a song that says, That's really true, isn't it?
And here are the festival singers. The wonder of it all.
And you too can have that same assurance. No matter how much you're struggling in your life, God does love you and cares for you. You can turn to him.
He is a trustworthy, faithful God. Well, as I shared last week, so I can get an accurate picture for Psalms Of Hope on your station, I'm going to ask you to do something for me. Sometime in the next few days, I want you to send me a note with $5 tucked inside.
If you wish, you may go to my website and check the donate button there and support me with $5. Of course, you're most welcome to send a larger gift. But most of all, I just need to know you are listening to Psalms Of Hope.
And if you've written before, please do join me in this project also. So get your pen ready. The announcer will give you my contact information.
And if you have a prayer request or comment, I'd love to receive that as well. We do take praying for our listeners seriously. And I will write you back.
You may be a new listener, but don't expect other people will write in. I need to hear from you too. Your response will tell me that you want this radio ministry to continue on your station.
Well, I'm calling this letter project Dollars for Doorways. In Revelation 320, Jesus said, Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him.
Well, every radio station I'm on is a doorway.
