Sermon Overview
Scripture Passage: Acts 5:27-32
Being a Christian is a joyous thing; the reason we are not filled with joy in this Christian life could be a matter of disobedience.
Adrian Rogers says, “Obedience is the missing ingredient in so many Christians’ lives.”
What does it mean to truly obey Christ? What is the expedience of obedience?
In Acts 5, Peter and the other apostles have caused quite a stir by preaching about Jesus Christ. The religious authorities are trying to stop a revival the apostles began.
They command the apostles to stop preaching.
“Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, ‘We ought to obey God rather than men. The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree. Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins. And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him’” (Acts 5:29-32).
In this text, we are first given the reason for obedience.
When God tells us to do something, our obedience is our duty and delight. We are indebted to God, our Lord and Savior, so we must decide to obey Him over men. Just as God cannot fail, act unjustly or deny Himself, He cannot force our loving obedience. It is not because His power is limited—it’s because of His very nature; He gives us a choice.
We can’t obey God unless we first know what it is that He wants us to do.
Once we know God’s will, we must be intentional about obeying it, and do so immediately. We will be held accountable for what we know, no matter what the cost. When He speaks, we must answer Him, regardless of circumstances. Only then can we see the supernatural rewards of our obedience:
-We receive the Holy Spirit.
-There is joy in our hearts.
-The Gospel is shared and believed.
When we obey God rather than men, we will see great multitudes of people come to Jesus Christ.
Apply it to your life
Would you like to have victory in your life? Know the will of God for your life and do it immediately, inflexible, and passionately.
Today, Pastor Jack teaches us that we need to defend the Word of God on our campuses and promote Pro-American capitalism. This nation was founded on freedom, and all of us, not just students, need to stand up for the truth.
The post Life And Bible: Being A Christian While Being On Campus – 2B first appeared on Pastor Jack Hibbs.
And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spoke as a dragon. And he exercises all the power of the first beast before him, and causes the earth and them who dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. And he does great wonders, so that he makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men, and deceives them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, that had the wound by a sword, and did live.
Yeah, I suppose he would. I would say that if someone is able to bring fire down from heaven and to do miracles in the sight of men, he’s going to deceive a few people. People are going to believe in and be impressed by what he does.
Now, this one that comes along, this one that has the horns like a lamb and speaks like a dragon is one who, well the Lamb of God is Christ, the dragon is the devil. So we’ve got one who, what shall we say, looks Christian but speaks devilish—one who appears to be a minister of righteousness but in fact is actually working out the devil’s agenda? A sobering thought, isn’t it?
And he causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, except he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. Here is wisdom. Let him that has understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is six hundred three score and six.
Now, we’ve got a fascinating study ahead of us! This is the famous mark of the beast. You may have heard of it somewhere down the line. What is this mark of the beast? and how does it work?

We believe you will be blessed, encouraged and receive fresh faith to begin your day as you listen to today's message with international missionary and Bible teacher Cherry Campbell.
00:00:18
I.
00:00:21 Cherri Campbell
Good.
00:00:22 Cherri Campbell
Welcome to victorious faith.
00:00:24 Cherri Campbell
Cherry Campbell.
00:00:25 Cherri Campbell
This morning I'm going to continue sharing with you the message I began sharing with you yesterday in a series we've been studying for the last few weeks called the Kingdom of God. Or you could even call it.
00:00:36 Cherri Campbell
Understanding the Kingdom.
00:00:38 Cherri Campbell
God, what it is and how it operates.
00:00:41 Cherri Campbell
However, this message and the messages that I'm going to be sharing with you in the days to come are from a class that I taught some years ago on this subject.
00:00:51 Cherri Campbell
Kingdom of God, so join me now in our live class for Part 4 of this series called 2 Kingdom Kingdom.
00:00:59 Cherri Campbell
Two systems.
00:01:02 Cherri Campbell
And we mentioned that the Gospel of the Kingdom is not just preaching salvation. It is not just preaching the cross and the death and the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
00:01:12 Cherri Campbell
And yet, that's not the whole Kingdom of God message.
00:01:15 Cherri Campbell
Not the whole gospel.
00:01:17 Cherri Campbell
Because the whole gospel means everything that is in heaven needs to be brought together.
00:01:23 Cherri Campbell
The Earth needs to become a colony of heaven, which is a reproduction of heaven that the same things in heaven will be done on Earth, and that is the whole gospel.
00:01:34 Cherri Campbell
That means that the prosperity of heaven will become the same prosperity on Earth.
00:01:39 Cherri Campbell
The health and life that's in heaven will be the health and life that we live in on.
00:01:43 Cherri Campbell
Earth. That all the strength, all the anointing, all the power. All the victory that is in heaven can be our strength. And an anointing in our power and our victory on the Earth. We can live in the same thing here and now as is in heaven. Because Jesus.
00:01:58 Cherri Campbell
Came to bring heaven to earth. The Kingdom of God.
00:02:01 Cherri Campbell
Onto the earth and you want to question me? But Jesus himself said it right here in Matthew 6.
00:02:06 Cherri Campbell
Isn't Cherry speaking?
00:02:08
Yeah.
00:02:08 Cherri Campbell
This is the word of God.
00:02:09 Cherri Campbell
Is what Jesus?
00:02:10 Cherri Campbell
Jesus said Matthew 610. What we read your Kingdom come and you.
00:02:15 Cherri Campbell
Be done on.
00:02:16 Cherri Campbell
Just like it is in heaven, just the same as it is in heaven.
00:02:20 Cherri Campbell
What's in?
00:02:21 Cherri Campbell
Let it be.
00:02:21 Cherri Campbell
The same here on the earth. Hallelujah. Amen.
00:02:25 Cherri Campbell
And you know in Deuteronomy 11.
00:02:28 Cherri Campbell
I think it's 21 or 22. Deuteronomy 11.
00:02:33 Cherri Campbell
Moses is giving the law and he says if you obey all my commands, God said the commands that I give you today that you will have days of heaven on Earth.
00:02:43 Cherri Campbell
Deuteronomy 11/21 and the King James version. It says that you may have days of heaven on the earth.
00:02:50 Cherri Campbell
Now some translation says as many days.
00:02:53 Cherri Campbell
Of heaven on.
00:02:55 Cherri Campbell
So there you can see either a quantity of days.
00:02:59 Cherri Campbell
As many days or the way it says in the King James.
00:03:03 Cherri Campbell
Days of heaven.
00:03:04 Cherri Campbell
A.
00:03:05 Cherri Campbell
I believe it's both. The quality of days of heaven on Earth and the quantity of days of heaven on earth that means long.
00:03:12 Cherri Campbell
Of heaven on earth.
00:03:13 Cherri Campbell
Was God's.
00:03:14 Cherri Campbell
Just simply that was.
00:03:17 Cherri Campbell
His blessing and his promise, just simply for obeying.
00:03:21 Cherri Campbell
He.
00:03:21 Cherri Campbell
If you obey my commands, this is what you'll have and this.
00:03:24 Cherri Campbell
Under the Old Testament.
00:03:26 Cherri Campbell
Is not even.
00:03:27 Cherri Campbell
After Jesus went to the.
00:03:29 Cherri Campbell
It was before Jesus went to the cross.
00:03:32 Cherri Campbell
Even under the old covenant laws.
00:03:35 Cherri Campbell
God had a promise that they.
00:03:37 Cherri Campbell
Have heaven on earth.
00:03:39 Cherri Campbell
How much more do we have it in the new covenant in the New Testament now that Jesus has died on the cross to save us of our sins and to redeem us from the curse and to bring the Kingdom of God to earth?
00:03:52 Cherri Campbell
Amen. Praise God.
00:03:55 Cherri Campbell
Praise God. And then we also saw that Jesus came not to first set up a physical Kingdom, but a spirit.
00:04:04 Cherri Campbell
Kingdom and we said that the disciples and all of Israel were looking for their deliverer.
00:04:11 Cherri Campbell
Had.
00:04:12 Cherri Campbell
Many prophets had prophesied.
00:04:15
A deliverer.
00:04:16 Cherri Campbell
Will come.
00:04:17 Cherri Campbell
Who will deliver you?
00:04:19 Cherri Campbell
And they were under Roman oppression and Roman *******.
00:04:22 Cherri Campbell
Was very heavy oppression.
00:04:25 Cherri Campbell
And they were looking for their.
00:04:27 Cherri Campbell
And every Sabbath day they would read the.
00:04:30 Cherri Campbell
About the deliverer.
00:04:31 Cherri Campbell
And they.
00:04:32 Cherri Campbell
Looking for him and Jesus came and said the Kingdom of God has come to you.
00:04:38 Cherri Campbell
And So what are the disciples all thinking? Oh, excited.
00:04:41 Cherri Campbell
Yeah, he's going to come and set.
00:04:43 Cherri Campbell
The Kingdom.
00:04:44 Cherri Campbell
Here in a throne, and we're going to put him on the throne and he's going to overthrow the Romans and drive.
00:04:49 Cherri Campbell
Romans out.
00:04:50 Cherri Campbell
Here and.
00:04:52 Cherri Campbell
They were very surprised on the night that Jesus was arrested and they were in the garden of Gethsemane and the soldiers came and arrested Jesus and Peter drew his sword.
00:05:03 Cherri Campbell
He is ready to fight.
00:05:04 Cherri Campbell
He is ready to take over.
00:05:06 Cherri Campbell
He is ready to defeat the Romans.
00:05:07 Cherri Campbell
Is ready to rise up.
00:05:10 Cherri Campbell
And ready to forcefully put Jesus on a throne.
00:05:14 Cherri Campbell
And Jesus turned him and said put away your sword.
00:05:18 Cherri Campbell
We're not going to do that right now.
00:05:21 Cherri Campbell
They were ready to.
00:05:22 Cherri Campbell
They were not ready to surrender and that's why they fled into the night when they all promised that they would never leave him. They were ready to never leave him unto death, but not unto surrender.
00:05:35 Cherri Campbell
And that's why they fled in the night.
00:05:37 Cherri Campbell
And then they went back to fishing. Many of them, after Jesus was crucified, they thought their their all their hopes.
00:05:47 Cherri Campbell
Had been destroyed.
00:05:48 Cherri Campbell
Their expectation for a king and a Kingdom to come that they had been so eagerly expecting, and they thought for sure it had come.
00:05:57 Cherri Campbell
And then it seemed like it was lost.
00:06:00 Cherri Campbell
Jesus is gone. He's dead now.
00:06:03 Cherri Campbell
And it seemed that their hopes were destroyed.
00:06:07 Cherri Campbell
That we know Jesus was raised from the dead and then he went back to the disciples and we read in acts chapter one, verse three that for 40 days he talked with them.
00:06:17 Cherri Campbell
And what did you talk about?
00:06:20 Cherri Campbell
The Kingdom of God.
00:06:22 Cherri Campbell
And he kept talking about the Kingdom.
00:06:25 Cherri Campbell
They're thinking.
00:06:26 Cherri Campbell
Now you talk about the Kingdom before.
00:06:29 Cherri Campbell
And you died. But you're back here again and you're still talking about this Kingdom coming.
00:06:35 Cherri Campbell
And So what did they ask? In acts? Chapter one, verse 6.
00:06:39 Cherri Campbell
Are you now?
00:06:40 Cherri Campbell
To restore the Kingdom to Israel.
00:06:42 Cherri Campbell
Their hopes are up again.
00:06:44 Cherri Campbell
Maybe now we're going to have this physical Kingdom and Jesus said in verse 7 it's not for you to know.
00:06:51 Cherri Campbell
The times that have been set by the father in verse eight though he.
00:06:55 Cherri Campbell
But you go and you preach the gospel in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and then to the uttermost parts of the.
00:07:00 Cherri Campbell
What?
00:07:01 Cherri Campbell
The Gospel of the Kingdom of God don't think right now about the establishment of the physical Kingdom, but you go preach about the spiritual Kingdom.
00:07:11 Cherri Campbell
You see, the first time Jesus came, he did not come to set up a physical Kingdom, but a spiritual Kingdom.
00:07:17 Cherri Campbell
He did not come to deliver them from Rome but to deliver them from sin.
00:07:23 Cherri Campbell
And to deliver us and all of mankind from sin.
00:07:27 Cherri Campbell
But we do know Jesus promised he will come again. And even as Jesus in acts, Chapter 1 was raised up and he disappeared in the clouds, out of their sight.
00:07:37 Cherri Campbell
2 angels came to them and they said to these men men, why are you standing looking up into the clouds?
00:07:44 Cherri Campbell
The same Jesus will come back the same way that you saw him go. He will come back again.
00:07:51 Cherri Campbell
So our expectation Jesus said I will come back again and when we look in revelation see the second coming is still in the future.
00:07:59 Cherri Campbell
Have not yet seen it.
00:08:01 Cherri Campbell
It's in the future. It's in revelation, and in chapter 19, verses 11 to 16, we see that Jesus comes riding on a White Horse.
00:08:10 Cherri Campbell
And his name is called Faithful and True, and he's called the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.
00:08:18 Cherri Campbell
And it says that he will strike down the nations and rule them.
00:08:25 Cherri Campbell
With an iron scepter.
00:08:28 Cherri Campbell
That is a forceful physical rule on the Earth.
00:08:34 Cherri Campbell
At that time, Jesus will.
00:08:35 Cherri Campbell
A throne on.
00:08:37 Cherri Campbell
It will be in Jerusalem, in Israel and he.
00:08:41 Cherri Campbell
Rule over.
00:08:42 Cherri Campbell
Of the earth for 1000 years, that will be the establishment of the physical Kingdom.
00:08:47 Cherri Campbell
But we are not yet in that time, we have not seen it.
00:08:51 Cherri Campbell
Has not yet come and so.
00:08:53 Cherri Campbell
Are still.
00:08:54 Cherri Campbell
In this period of time, under the Great Commission, when Jesus said go into all the world and preach the gospel of the Kingdom of God, and we are supposed to preach, this is a spiritual Kingdom of God established on the earth.
00:09:06 Cherri Campbell
We must walk in.
00:09:08 Cherri Campbell
And we must bring this Kingdom of God to earth through preaching it and through believing it and living in it.
00:09:15 Cherri Campbell
Now that's a quick review, but I want to.
00:09:19 Cherri Campbell
On now.
00:09:21 Cherri Campbell
And let's go to Colossians chapter.
00:09:23 Cherri Campbell
Now, what are our three keywords to define a Kingdom?
00:09:29 Cherri Campbell
They are government.
00:09:32 Cherri Campbell
The Government of God and.
00:09:36 Cherri Campbell
The system of God and.
00:09:39 Cherri Campbell
The laws of God, Amen.
00:09:41 Cherri Campbell
Now we've just talked about the.
00:09:43 Cherri Campbell
I've talked about establishing the government. I want to focus on the second word now.
00:09:47 Cherri Campbell
This system, the system of.
00:09:50 Cherri Campbell
Now let's look in Colossians chapter 1.
00:09:54 Cherri Campbell
And verses 12 and 13, giving thanks to the father who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the Saints.
00:10:03 Cherri Campbell
In the Kingdom of Light.
00:10:07 Cherri Campbell
For he.
00:10:08 Cherri Campbell
Rescued us from the Dominion of Darkness and brought us into the Kingdom of the son he loves.
00:10:18 Cherri Campbell
Verse 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. Now in these two verses, or especially verse 13, we see the two kingdoms and I want to say there are two kingdoms.
00:10:30 Cherri Campbell
They are the Kingdom of light.
00:10:33 Cherri Campbell
And the Kingdom of darkness.
00:10:37 Cherri Campbell
Also called the Kingdom of God.
00:10:41 Cherri Campbell
And the Kingdom of the world.
00:10:44 Cherri Campbell
God is the ruler of the king over the Kingdom of God, and Satan is the ruler or the king over the Kingdom of this world.
00:10:56 Cherri Campbell
Now another name for the Kingdom of God is also the Kingdom of Christ.
00:11:02 Cherri Campbell
Also called the Kingdom of Heaven, and I want you to understand this.
00:11:07 Cherri Campbell
Want to explain this to you?
00:11:08 Cherri Campbell
Heaven is not the same.
00:11:11 Cherri Campbell
Thing as the Kingdom of heaven.
00:11:14 Cherri Campbell
A lot of people get that mixed up, especially, you know, in the gospels we see in Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.
00:11:23 Cherri Campbell
That sometimes we read the Kingdom of God, and sometimes we read the Kingdom of heaven and people have gotten confused over that thinking.
00:11:30 Cherri Campbell
They.
00:11:30 Cherri Campbell
Are they the same?
00:11:31 Cherri Campbell
And sometimes when they talk about the Kingdom of heaven, they're thinking about heaven.
00:11:36 Cherri Campbell
But let me explain it like this.
00:11:39 Cherri Campbell
Heaven is not the same thing as the Kingdom of heaven. Heaven is a place.
00:11:46 Cherri Campbell
Just like Earth is a place.
00:11:50 Cherri Campbell
But the Kingdom of Heaven is a government.
00:11:54 Cherri Campbell
Heaven is a place the Kingdom of heaven is a government, but the Kingdom of heaven and the Kingdom of God are the same.
00:12:04 Cherri Campbell
They are both the government of.
00:12:07 Cherri Campbell
God is not the king over 2 kingdoms. He's the king of one Kingdom.
00:12:11 Cherri Campbell
And so that will help you to understand it that when you read about Kingdom of God and Kingdom of Heaven, it's talking about the same thing, but it's not always necessarily just talking about heaven.
00:12:23 Cherri Campbell
So the Kingdom of Darkness has another name.
00:12:28 Cherri Campbell
Also called the Kingdom of this world.
00:12:31 Cherri Campbell
And also in Ephesians Chapter 2 verse 2 it says the ruler of the Kingdom of the air.
00:12:39 Cherri Campbell
So it's also called the Kingdom of the air.
00:12:44 Cherri Campbell
Now these are two.
00:12:47 Cherri Campbell
There are two systems of operating.
00:12:51
I.
00:12:52 Cherri Campbell
Two ways of doing things.
00:12:55 Cherri Campbell
Two different worldviews, two different ways of thinking, ways of talking and ways of doing.
00:13:05 Cherri Campbell
What you just heard was part four in a series of messages that I've been sharing with you over the last few weeks called the Kingdom of.
00:13:13 Cherri Campbell
Or you could even call it understanding the Kingdom of God what it is and how it operates. This message is from a class that I taught some years ago called the Kingdom of God.
