About This Show

Rachel Mains talks with Stryper's frontman, Michael Sweet, about how he's successfully been in the music industry for 40 years and how his faith has shaped him.

"Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father." Colossians 3:17

After four decades of producing, recording and performing high-caliber music, prolific rock foursome Stryper continues to relentlessly show itself as a renewed force with unquenchable firepower. In addition to kicking off an ambitious 40th anniversary tour in fall of 2024, the group releases its 16th studio project, the triumphant When We Were Kings (Frontiers Music Srl), on September 13, 2024. The 11-track project fortifies Stryper’s signature sonic output by showcasing tight harmonies, riff-infused instrumentation and impassioned vocals. Among the album’s most spiritually straightforward songs, hard-charging track “Trinity” speaks to the mysterious unity of the Father, Son and Spirit, while thundering tune “End of Days” addresses the last days prior to the apocalypse. Elsewhere, guitars loom large and a captivating chorus encompasses the title track focused on the futility of dwelling on the past. Further song themes run the gamut from overcoming bitterness and showing mercy (“Unforgiveable”) to finding common ground in relationships (“Divided by Design”) and dealing with deceit and unfaithfulness (“Betrayed by Love”). Stryper also has made solid progress on a much-anticipated Kickstarter-fueled documentary film. More than 1,700 backers helped the band far exceed its original funding goal, earning a “Projects We Love” tag on the popular crowdfunding platform.

Rachel Mains talks with Kim Monson, host of the Kim Monson show, on this upcoming Corner Cafe. Rachel asks the question to Kim, "Have we taken the United States of America for granted?"

Kim Monson grew up in western Kansas and has a deep appreciation for rural America. She is grateful for the classical, liberal, public K-12 education she received that gave her the tools necessary to pursue her hopes and dreams. She attended the University of Kansas for one semester. After a brief detour in her life, Kim moved to Colorado with the belief that with hard work and perseverance, anything is possible. And it is. Kim began work as a bank teller in Longmont. A few years later, she went to work with a small stock brokerage firm as a stock trading assistant. Studying at night and on week-ends, Kim passed her Series 7 exam and shortly thereafter, went to work with Boettcher and Company as an investment broker. Within a few years, she became one of the youngest vice-presidents at the firm. Kim retired from the investment business when the second of her three children was born and has worked in the women’s apparel business for many years. In 2013 she began her broadcasting career as one of three “Americhicks” on KLZ 560 AM with a broadcast reach into Wyoming, Kansas, New Mexico and west to the mountains.

Rachel Mains talks with billboard charting artist and producer Darren Rahn. They discuss what rest has looked like in Darren's career and in his life. Darren shares what he has learned from learning to let go of striving, and trying and make things happen, versus just simply resting and trusting God.

"The heart of man plans his way, but the LORD establishes his steps." ~Proverbs 16:9

DARREN RAHN

Back in 2004…when Darren Rahn was working with Wayman Tisdale on the late great bassist’s chart-topping twist on “Ain’t No Stoppin’ Us Now,” the big guy gave the up and coming saxophonist, producer and emerging recording artist a sound bit of advice Rahn has taken to heart on every subsequent recording endeavor: “Stay in your lane.” Rahn’s tireless commitment to musical authenticity over the past 18 years has resulted in multiple Grammy nominations and 26 #1 Billboard singles as a solo artist/saxophonist, producer and mix engineer. The multi-talented, Canadian born, Denver based artist’s multi-faceted journey reaches yet another key milestone with the release of Rock The World, a hallmark album that taps perfectly into the Zeitgeist of these anxious times while revealing an ever-evolving artist at the pinnacle of his creative, melodic, spiritual and sonic expressions.

These needed funds will be used to address the problems communities face which is simply too great for any one group to successfully resolve or impact.

Hosts Jamie Daniel and Rachel Mains have a conversation about sin. What is it really? They discuss...

"This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, or all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,  and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus." ~Roman 3:22-24
