In this enlightening episode, we delve into the biblical principle of calling things that are not as though they were. Join us as we discuss the transformative power of spoken declarations and how it aligns with God's promises and the teachings of Jesus. Through practical and often humorous analogies, we uncover the significance of speaking what you desire rather than what you see, and how this can bring abundance and change into your life.

We're glad you could join us today for the Concepts of Faith broadcast. This program is dedicated to teach you how to put the Word of God to work so that it will make a positive difference in the everyday circumstances of your life. And now, here's Charles Capps.
SPEAKER 03 :
Why in the world would you want to call what is? No need to call what is, it's already there. You team up with God and call the thing that's not. Until it is. And then when it is, it has reduced to nothing the thing that was. Abundance will do away with the debt. Can you see that? Now, let's approach this from another angle. I said we're going to climb this mountain so many different ways you're going to get a different view every time. Let's take an individual that says, well, now if I can sell my car for $4,000, I've got enough money that I can buy this car. I found the perfect car for me. But he misunderstood what he heard at the seminar. He just got one session and he didn't get all of it. He said, now, I think what they said was you just act like it doesn't exist. So if I want to sell my car, I just say, thank God I don't have a car. Thank God, don't have a car. Don't have a car, don't have a car, don't have a car. Somebody said, how's your car doing? Don't have a car. So he wakes up some morning and somebody stole his car. Now, you understand that wasn't the answer, was it? Because he don't have a car and he don't have the money. But now what's the answer? To call the thing that's not. Now what's not? The car's not sold, right? So he prays and says, Lord, send me a buyer for this car. Somebody praying for a car just like this. Send me a buyer for this car. I believe I received a buyer for this car. Thank you, Father. I believe it's done in Jesus' name. Then start calling the car sold. Thank God I'm calling you. Go out there and talk to it. Say, whoo, car, you're sold. Somebody's impressed with you. They like the way your windows roll up and down. They like the way your headlights shine. Whoo, they're impressed with you. Jesus said it would obey you. Huh? The sycamine tree? It'll work on a tree. It'll work on a car. It will obey you. It'll obey your faith-filled words. In fact, it's been doing it all these years. But you know what you've been saying to it? You're the biggest lemon I ever got. You'll fall apart before I ever get you paid for. Then you wondered why it fell apart before you got the thing paid off. It was obeying you. Now, If you call the car sold and somebody buys the car, then you have the money. And you see, that's the answer, right? So the answer is not to sit down and say, my car's not sold, my car's not sold, dear God, my car's not sold. It's not God's will for my car to be sold, but I wish my car was sold. Oh God, help me to sell my car, but my car's not sold. No, that's not God's method. God's method is to call things that are not. Manifest as though they were manifest until they are manifest. Now, let me bring you back to the center point here. We are talking about things that God has promised us, things that God has given us. See, we're not talking about trying to get something God doesn't want you to have. We're talking about things God's promised you. Give and it shall be given. You can't expect to enter into the receiving of the finances or whatever it is if you're not giving. There's a responsibility there. See, that's future tense scripture. Give and it shall be. That's future tense. But once you have given, then it's not future anymore. It becomes present tense. And the way you do is you call it then. Father, because I have given... Then it is given unto me. Somebody said, well, it doesn't look like it's given unto you because, you know, you owe your car payment and the rents do. Oh, but you see, I'm calling the thing that's not. Why in the world would you want to call what was already there? See, that's not God's method. Now, let's approach it from another angle. There's people that say, well, now, I'll tell you what. You faith folks, you're just trying to act like God. Isn't that good? I thought it was good to act like God. Well, what they mean is you're just trying to be God. Well, you're saying what God said, so you're just trying to act like God. Well, now, if I'm acting like God saying what God said, who are they acting like when they say what the devil said? I'll tell you, nothing ever works out for me. I prayed it's not working out. Things are getting worse. Who said that? The devil said it. And they bought it. And God fought it. But the devil won. You know why? Because their word established it. See, they called the thing that was. They called it. Why call that? Now, you've got some guy that says, well, now I'll tell you. I just don't believe in calling things that are not. I just believe in saying it like it is. And if you say it any other way, you'll just be lying. You've got to say it like it is. Well, okay. Let's just follow this guy for a little bit and see if he believes that. Now, he gets up some morning and he goes out to feed his dog. And he's looking all around out there in the backyard, and his pooch is nowhere to be found. Now, if he really believes what he says he believes, he'll sit down right there, and he'll start saying, the dog's gone, the dog's gone, the dog's gone, the dog's gone, the dog's gone, the dog's gone. Oh, I wish the dog was here, but the dog's gone. And you see, that'd be the doggone truth. And his neighbor comes over and says, what in the world are you doing? Well, I'm just calling it like it is. The dog's gone, so I'm saying the dog's gone, the dog's gone, the dog's gone. But I wish the dog was here. But his neighbor says, have you tried calling the dog? Calling the dog? You must be one of those faith fanatics. You can't call things that are not. You've got to call it like it is, and the dog is gone. Now, isn't it amazing? When you get down to apples and oranges and cats and dogs, how simple things get. I mean things that was a spiritual mystery a few minutes ago becomes to be crystal clear now. Now see, that's what Jesus would do. He'd take the natural, pull it together with the spiritual, and take the natural and show you how the spiritual worked. That's what he did with the seeds. He said, you take a seed, you plant it in the ground, and it'll spring up and grow. And he showed you how the kingdom of God worked by seeds. Kingdom of God's of a man cast a seed into the ground. Now here's this guy sitting on his back porch saying, the dog's gone, the dog's gone, the dog's gone, and the dog is gone. But that's not the answer, is it? As long as he just sits there and says the dog's gone. Or let's say he takes this idea. He goes out there and the dog's not there, but the cat's there. Well, you've got to say it like it is. So whatever's here, I guess you have to call it. So kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty. He starts calling the cat. And the guy comes over. He says, what in the world are you doing? Well, I was going to feed the dog, but the cat's here, so I've got to call it like it is, so I'm calling the cat. He calls the cat and all the neighborhood cats come. Now he's got a yard full of cats, but he wants to feed the dog. Now he's got this problem because he doesn't believe in calling things that are not. He believes in calling things that are. Now laugh some of you, but you've been calling the cat. let's say he goes to feed the cat and the dog is there and he sits down and he says well the dog's here and the cat's not here wish the cat was here but the dog's here so he starts calling the dog here pooch here pooch pooch is licking him on the chin but he's calling the dog here pooch here pooch and pooch is licking him on the chin he wonders why the cat doesn't come He hadn't called the cat. He called the dog. The dog is already there. Now, what's the bottom line? The bottom line is, if the dog is licking you in the face, don't call him. He's already there. Somebody said, we just never do have enough money to pay all our bills. It's that way every time. We never save up enough money to take a little vacation. Every time our kids would come down sick, we had to spill every dime on doctor bills. It happens that way every time. Hey, you're calling the dog. And he's licking you on the chin. Don't call lack when lack is there. This is not God's method. God's method is that you call the thing that is not there. Now see, these things are so foolish in the natural realm, till nobody would even think of doing that. I mean, nobody would be foolish enough to go out and sit there and call the cats when they wanted the dogs. Why is it that when we come into the principles of the Bible and the promises and the provisions that have been made for us, that we get so spiritually minded we can't understand common everyday principles or everyday things that we do in life? See, we don't call things that are in anything else in life except the promises of God or the things like that. Well, it's not there, so I can't say that I have it. I can't say it's mine because it's not here. Hey, in everything else, if it's not there, you call it. And when you call it, isn't it amazing that it comes when you call it? I mean, the dog, when you call him, he will come. If the dog is there and you want to feed the cat, if you've got lack and you want abundance, then it's very simple what you do. You'd go out there and say, get! And then you'd call the cat. Tell lack to get and call abundance. That's about as simple as I know how to put it. God bless you. We do appreciate you joining us for the Concepts of Faith broadcast today. We're talking about calling things that are not as though they were. We have CD offer number 7215. It's two CDs for $15 plus $4 postage and handling, total of $19. It's entitled, Calling Things That Are Not As Though They Were. In this series, we teach you the principle of the Bible that so many people know very little about. It's called calling things that are not. Did you know that Jesus operated in this principle in all of his ministry? But yet you could study the Bible for years and not even notice it unless you studied from this angle. See, we even climbed the mountain from two or three different sides so you get a different view. See, so many people, they say, well, you know, the Bible says that we're to speak the truth. Well, now, what is the truth, though? You see, they say, we just have to say it like it is. And, you know, every time we save any money, all the kids come down sick and have to spend every dime on doctor bills. That's the way it is every time. Well, now, the Bible also says you can have what you say if you believe and doubt not in your heart. Believe what you say and it'll come to pass. So faith cometh by hearing. If you keep saying that, you're going to have great faith in and spending all your money on doctor bills and having nothing left over to pay your rent or to pay your bills. But you see, if you will call the things that are not, what do you call for? Call for what you don't have. Call for what the Word of God promises you that you don't have. The Scripture says, if you give, it will be given unto you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, men will give unto your bosom. And it says that you're like a tree planted by the rivers of water, and whatever you do will prosper. No weapon formed against you will prosper. That's what ought to be coming out of your mouth. You might say, yeah, but you see, I don't have abundance. Well, proclaim abundance based on the authority of the Word of God. That's offer number 7215, entitled Calling Things That Are Not. We are glad you could join us today for the Concepts of Faith broadcast. This program is dedicated to teach you how to put the Word of God to work so that it will make a positive difference in the everyday circumstances of your life. And now, here's Charles Capps.
SPEAKER 01 :
The way that God has given unto us all things is through the exceeding great and precious promises, right? This is God's Word to us. This is where our supernatural hope comes from. If you don't have what God has promised, then go to the Word of God and get you some supernatural hope. And besides that, confess it until the supernatural faith comes. Because there's enough faith in every promise in the Word of God. to cause the manifestation of it in your life and in the life of every person on the face of the earth and still be as much faith in it as it was when it started. Faith is the divine energy of God. It is capable of causing the manifestation of the promise that has been given. Now, you know yourself. You go down to the bank, you know, you make a bank deposit. You look at your bank book, you've got $3,000 in the bank, and then the provision's made, isn't it? You know that you can write a check to the amount of the provision that is made. The same way with God's Word. The provision has been made. But if you don't know what provision has been made, how are you going to enter into it? See, you couldn't write a check for $5,000 and expect that bank to honor it when you knew you didn't have provision only for $3,000. Now, I say you can't. Some people do. They call them faith checks. They're not faith checks. They're hot checks. But you see, the provision's made. Now, God's made the provision for us. Now, His method for us entering into this is through faith. Faith is the substance of things hoped for. It's the evidence of things not seen. It's the evidence of the things you haven't seen. Spiritual things that are not seen is the method. Eternal things, the thing that is not seen is eternal. You can't see faith that comes from the Word of God. It is an eternal force. It is capable of causing the manifestation of the natural thing that you have need of that God has already promised and given to you. Someone said, if God's already given to me all things that pertain to life and godliness, then why don't I have it? I'm glad you asked that question. Have you ever called it? Oh no, I'm just saying it like it is. As long as you say it like it is, it'll be like it is. Because when you call it like it is, you have what you say and you say what you have. Then you have what you say. The Lord said that to me one time. He said, I told my people they can have what they say. Now that is, if they believe, they doubt not in their heart. They believe what they're saying will come to pass. There's a lot involved in there. I don't have time to teach on that right here. But there's a lot more involved in saying it. It won't work just because you say it. But saying it is involved in working it. You know why? Because faith cometh by hearing the Word of God. If that's true, fear comes the same way. If faith comes by hearing, fear comes by hearing. If faith comes by hearing the word of God, fear comes by hearing words of the devil. And the thing you feared will come upon you. Job proved that. So the manifestation of whatever you desire comes when you get highly developed. The more highly developed you get in either fear or faith, the quicker the manifestation will come. Now, God's method is this, to call the thing that's not manifest. Now, you understand, we're not talking about calling for something God doesn't want us to have. We're talking about calling for the thing that God's already given us. See, God's not going to do any more than what He's already done to supply our need. You know that? Jesus died. He became the last sacrifice. He's redeemed us from the curse. It's not up to God to do all these things now. It's up to us to act on the promise that He gave. Now, the problem has come. It's misunderstanding. We've misunderstood some things. I like the little boy, you know, in Sunday school class, and the teacher said, who knows what a lie is? Well, he stuck up his hand and he said, I know. Well, what is a lie? Well, he says, it's an abomination to God and a very present help in time of trouble. Well... You see, both of those statements are in the Bible. But the present help in time of trouble was not talking about the lie, you know. A lie is abomination to God. But let's don't get them mixed up. So, misunderstanding of certain things holds us in bondage. God's people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Not because the devil's so great, and he's so powerful, but because of lack of knowledge. You can't believe any further than you have knowledge. How many of you know that? You've got to have knowledge of something before you can release your faith in it. If you don't know God's given it to you, how could you have faith to get it? Because you know faith cometh by hearing what God said. If you don't know what God said, faith didn't come concerning that thing. You may have faith in God to be saved, to be healed, to be baptized in the Holy Ghost and to go to heaven. But in the area of finances, if you don't know what God said about it and don't know how to call it into manifestation, you may live your life out in poverty on this earth, die and go to heaven, and never tap into the things that God had available for you here in this life. So what's God's method? Call the thing that's not manifest. Isn't that simple? Now, I said there's a problem area of denying things that exist. Now, I know when we began to teach the faith message that some people got a hold of it and got parts of it, and they began to deny that they were sick. They'd be coughing or sneezing or nose running. They'd say, no, I don't have a cold. I don't have a cold. No, I don't have a cold. Don't you try to put that on me. Well, you don't want to go around confessing you're sick all the time either. You know what I'm saying? You don't want to establish the present circumstances. But what is the answer here? What is God's method? God's method is to call for the thing that's not manifest. Now, what is not manifest? If I'm sick, if I've got a cold, if I have the flu, then the answer is to get healing, right? Amen. Get my body well. So I start quoting scriptures, causing faith to come. In fact, we should have been quoting the scriptures and had faith there. I mean, here's the best thing. Use your faith on the front end and don't get sick. But after you get sick, we've already missed it. But let's still work on it all right. Now see, this is not the only method, but it's a method. Amen. There's nothing wrong with taking medicine as far as I'm concerned if you need it. Like I said, I like to use my faith on the front end. Keep from getting sick. If I get sick, I've already missed it. You know, if it's something terminal, you may die before you find out where you missed it. So let's not get so self-righteous that we say, bless God, I'm not going to take medicine. Because if it takes that to get us back on our feet, then don't be condemned by it. You see what I'm saying? You've got to develop yourself in this. And if you're not developed there, don't feel condemned about it. But begin to call things. Now, here's the answer. You call for healing. You say, the Word says, by His stripes I'm healed. I'm redeemed from the curse of the law. All sickness under the curse. Thank God, I believe I've received my healing. The Bible says, they'll lay hands on the sick and they shall recover. And they laid hands on me, so I must be recovering. Thank God, I'm calling my body as well. My body as well. Now, don't go tell your neighbor that. Don't tell the unbelieving church members that. You hear me? You'll save yourself a lot of trouble. You're the one that needs to hear it. Not anybody else. You need to hear it. Thank God I'm calling my body well. Body, you listen to me. I'm calling you well. Thank God I'm well. You're well. You're well. I'm calling you well. Somebody said, how can you say your body's well when you're hurt? That's all the more reason I ought to be saying this. Well, I'm calling it. I'm calling it. It's not here yet. Health is not in my body. I'm calling it. Are you getting this? I'm going to say it's the many ways you're going to get it. Why would I want to call sickness if it's already there? Why in the world would I want to say, I'm sick, I'm sick, I'm sick, I'm sick. Oh dear God, I'm sick. But yet, you don't deny what exists. I don't deny that sickness exists. I deny it's right to exist in my body. Now, see, that's the answer. Now, when you call healing into the body, When it shows up, what happened to the sickness? I don't know and I don't care. See, it reduced to nothing the thing that was. The thing that was that I was sick. But when I called healing and called it and called it until it came, it reduced the sickness to nothing. Now, can you see that? All right, take it over in another area, in the area of finances. Somebody said, well, I'm going to get out of debt. I'm just going to say, well, I'm just going to start saying I don't have any debts. And they may owe everybody in the county. Thank God I don't have any debts. Don't have any debts. Don't have any debts. Now, if you could get out of debt that way, which I don't think you could, but if you could, you might die of starvation. Did you know most people that die of starvation don't owe anybody anything? So that's not the answer, getting out of debt, is it? Oh, it'd be good to be out of debt, but see, that's not the total answer. What's the answer? Abundance. Thank God, because I've given, it's given unto me good measure. I sow bountifully, I reap bountifully. My God has made all grace abound toward me. Now, when abundance comes, see, somebody said, how can you say you have abundance when the rent's due and you don't have the money to pay it? That's all the more reason I ought to be calling it. Are you listening? You're calling the thing that's not there. Why would you want to call the thing that is there? I mean, why would you want to call lack? Ooh, lack. Ooh, lack. Lack, lack, lack, lack, lack, lack. Somebody said, what are you doing? I'm just calling it like it is. Yeah, as long as you call it, it'll go home with you. It'll buddy up with you. And the devil will do the same thing. Why in the world would you want to call what is? No need to call what is. It's already there. You team up with God and call the thing that's not until it is. And then when it is, it has reduced to nothing the thing that was. Abundance will do away with the debt. Can you see that? I appreciate you joining us for the Concepts of Faith broadcast. Now we're talking about calling things that are not this week here on the broadcast. Now sometimes people say, well, now what do you mean calling things that are not? Well, we're just simply talking about the scriptural principle that teaches us to call things that are not manifest as though they were manifest until they are manifest. That's what God called calling things that are not as though they were. In the fourth chapter of Romans, the Apostle Paul says that God taught Abraham to call things that were not as though they were. And if you don't understand that principle, you're probably going around calling things that are as though they are exactly like they are, and they are. And they will always be that way if you continue to do that. But if you will call the things that are not, they'll come. See, so many people get wrapped up in calling it like it is, and you hear people saying, well, you know, you just have to say it like it is. No, you don't. The Scripture doesn't teach us to call it like it is. The Scripture teaches us to call things that are not as though they were until they are. Now, that's the scriptural basis for it. You don't get but two verses into Genesis chapter 1 until you find God calling things that are not as though they were. He looked out and saw darkness, and he said, Light be, and light was. He called light out of darkness. Now, how can you call something when it's not out there? He called for what was not there. If you just walk in an elevator, and you're going to call it like it is, and you're on the first floor, and you punch the first floor, guess what? You're going to stay right there on the first floor. The doors are going to open again. You say, Yeah, but I wanted to go to floor five. Well, you punched the wrong button, and a lot of you are punching the wrong button and wondering why you didn't go somewhere or something didn't change. SPEAKER 01 :
Now go with me over to 1 Corinthians, the first chapter. Let's notice that the Apostle Paul tapped into this principle of the Bible. We're talking about calling things that are not as though they were. Now let's read from verse 27 and 28. Paul is saying, but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise. God has chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty. And base things of the world and things which are despised hath God chosen. Now notice, God chosen, yea, and things which are not to bring to naught things that are. Now allow me to add one word into this, and it'll help you tremendously in understanding this passage of Scripture. God chose things that are not manifest, spiritual forces that are not manifest, to bring to naught things that are manifest in your physical affairs, in your business affairs, in your situations of your life. He chose spiritual, eternal things that are not manifest. He chose that method to bring to naught things that are manifest. Right? Now that may be a little vague to you right at this point. But if you just stay with me before this session's over, you'll see it clearly. Because God's Word is powerful. It is a motivating force. It's the most powerful motivating force in the universe because it's filled with the divine energy of God. Now when he says, call things that are not as though they were, that's exactly what he's talking about. Is to call things that are not. Why in the world would you want to call something that's already there? Now see, that's why I say it'll help you if you say it this way. Call things that are not manifest as though they were manifest until they are manifest. Now this is God's method. You notice it didn't say that Brother Copeland chose this method. Or Brother Capps chose this method. Well, we all did after God chose it, but we didn't choose it first. This is God's method. Now, if you want to get something from God, start using His methods. Now, this may sound very elementary, but you know, if you don't like what you have now, then check up on what you've been doing in the days past. Because if you keep on doing what you've been doing, you're going to keep on having what you've been having. And God's Word gives us some explicit instructions of how to get involved in God's method. God chose this method. To call things that are not as though they were. He chose spiritual forces. You know, He created the universe out of faith-filled words. He didn't create it out of nothing. He created it out of something. He created it out of His faith. And God's faith is not nothing. It's something. Go with me to 2 Corinthians. Now, these are the foundation scriptures. This will pretty well take care of the foundation scriptures. Let's read from 2 Corinthians, the fourth chapter. Let's read verse 13, then we'll skip down and read verse 17 and 18. Paul speaking, he says, "...we having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed and therefore have I spoken. We also believe and therefore speak." Do you know why you say things that you say? You know, sometimes you say, Well, I'll tell you what. You watch and see. It's not going to work out. Now, the reason you're saying that is because you believe in it. And the more you say it, the more you'll believe it. The same spirit of faith. As we believe, we speak. Now, come down to verse 17. Our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding eternal weight of glory, while we look not at things that are seen... but at things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal. Now you can't see faith, can you? You may see the action of faith, but you can't see faith. Faith is the substance of things hoped for as evidence of things not seen. Faith... is the divine energy of God. It is what God used to create the universe. The world was created by faith-filled words. God's words spoke the universe into existence. Jesus is called the Word of God. The Word was made flesh and dwelt among us. The Word was with God. The Word was God. All things were made by Him. Without Him was not anything made that was made. And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us. so this word of God created all things faith in God's word is capable of changing things by using God's faith God's divine energy from his word and speaking it in word form now that's what Jesus is referring to when he's talking about if you had faith as a seed you would say because the same spirit of faith says as you believe you speak So if you had faith as a seed, you would say to the problem that faces you, be removed. You'll not hinder me any longer. But somebody says, but it is hindering you. I know it. That's the reason I'm saying you are not hindering me. Now some of you didn't get that. Somebody said, how in the world can you say that you won't hinder me anymore when it's hindering you all the time? That's all the more reason I'm going to say it. Because I'm calling the thing that's not. The thing that's not is that it's not removed. That's the reason I'm calling it removed. You are removed. You'll not hinder me any longer. You'll disappear, depart, dematerialize, be gone. Somebody said, oh, but Brother Capps, you've got to say it like it is. Oh, no. That's not what the Bible says. That's what man will tell you. You just got to say it like it is. Now, why would you want to establish the present circumstance? Why would Abraham want to go around and say, I'm old, I'm too old to have a child, too old to have a child, too old to have a child, too old to have a child? Somebody said, what are you doing? Oh, he said, I'm just saying it like it is. Yeah, and he'd ended up like Zacharias too. Struck dumb for nine months or 25 years because it's 25 years before it happened. You remember what happened to Zacharias? He said, you're going to have to give me a sign when the angel came and said, your wife's going to conceive and bear a child. Now they've been praying for a child. Been believing for it. The angel came and said, now your prayer's answered. You'd have thought he'd had a Holy Ghost fit, wouldn't you? But he said, how do I know you're telling the truth? Give me a sign. He said, I'm going to give you a sign, all right. You're going to be dumb and not be able to speak until the day it comes to pass. We're going to stop this unbelief here and now. Some of us would have been a lot better off if we'd have been struck dumb a few times. Well, you need to know when to speak and when to not speak. There's a time to be silent and there's a time to speak. But God's method is this, that you call the thing that is not. Now here's where the misunderstanding comes. You know, people don't always hear what you say. They hear what they thought you said. And then again, you get it passed down about three different generations, you know. Somebody told somebody what they heard somebody say they thought they heard somebody say they thought they heard them say. And then it gets kind of twisted around. And what happened is you get a lot of people out here calling things that are as though they're not. Now see, some of you missed that. You didn't notice the difference. God's method is to call the thing that's not manifest as though it were manifest until it is manifest. But when you just deny what exists, that's not God's method. And we've had a lot of that. I've probably done it myself. I mean, if you made a mistake, join the club. We've all made mistakes. But we're learning. See, we're getting new illumination on old revelation. God's Word is continually giving us light. So if we call the thing that's not manifest, we call it until it is manifest. What will it do to what is manifest? It'll reduce it to nothing, Paul says. Isn't that what naught means? Naught means nothing. Zero. absolutely dematerialized, gone, disappeared. So you call for the thing that's not manifest until it is manifest. Now what are we talking about calling? Let's get this understood. We're talking about calling the things that God's given us. We're not talking about trying to get something God doesn't want us to have. This is what we get criticized sometimes. They say, oh, you're just teaching people to get things. Well, 2 Peter chapter 1, it says, God has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness through the knowledge of him that has called him to glory and virtue, whereby are given to us exceeding great and precious promises, that by these you might be partakers of the divine nature. Now what's he saying? He said the way that God has given unto us all things is through the exceeding great and precious promises. Right? This is God's word to us. This is where our supernatural hope comes from. If you don't have what God has promised, then go to the word of God and get you some supernatural hope. And besides that, confess it until the supernatural faith comes. Because there's enough faith in every promise in the word of God. to cause the manifestation of it in your life and in the life of every person on the face of the earth, and there'd still be as much faith in us as there was when it started. Now God's made the provision for us. Now His method for us entering into this is through faith. Faith is the substance of things hoped for. It's the evidence of things not seen. It is an eternal force. It is capable of causing the manifestation of the natural thing that you have need of that God has already promised and given to you. Faith is the divine energy of God. Can you see that? The Scripture says, "...if you give, it will be given unto you, good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over. Men will give unto your bosom." and it says that you're like a tree planted by the rivers of water, and whatever you do will prosper. No weapon formed against you will prosper. That's what ought to be coming out of your mouth. You might say, yeah, but you see, I don't have abundance. Well, proclaim abundance based on the authority of the Word of God. That's offer number 7215, entitled Calling Things That Are Not. It's two CDs for $15 plus $4 postage and handling, a total of $19.00. We have a toll-free order line, 1-877-396-9400. SPEAKER 01 :
Now what I want to share with you in this session, now I may do this just a little different in this meeting than I've done in times past. Usually I take just a certain subject and we just go on it till we get through. But the Lord's kind of dealt with me in a little different way. I'm going to deal with several different things in this meeting. But I want to share with you in this service the thing that I believe is very important to the body of Christ. And that is the Bible principle of calling things that are not. Now, I know that many of you have heard it, but you need to hear it again. I mean, I've heard it so many times, but I want to preach it again just so I can hear it myself. Because I tell you what, you'll forget some things. Now, let me say this. There is nothing new under the sun. I think we make a mistake if we always try to dig for some great, deep revelation. Sometimes, you know, you find people that do that and they get out beyond the Bible. But there is new illumination on old revelation. And that's what we want to do, is just simply share what the Word says, the Bible says, pull it together. You know, I think one of the real problems in the church world, in the body of Christ, is that we've tended to separate totally the spiritual from the natural. And just put one over here and one over there. You know, Jesus never did do that. We live in a natural world. We walk in a natural world. We have to deal with natural things. Jesus always reached out here and grabbed one with one hand and the other with the other hand, and he said, now I'm going to show you by natural things how spiritual things work. So he pulled them in there and he started talking about seed, talking about something they understood. If you had faith as a seed, you would say to the sycamine tree, be plucked up by the root, be planted in the sea, and it would obey you. It would obey you. But somewhere down through the years, we kind of drifted away from that, the church did, and we got so heavenly minded that we got no earthly good. Oh, we could teach people they're going to get a lot of stuff when they get to heaven, all right. And it's going to be wonderful then. Well, certainly it will be. But what are you going to do with the here and now? I mean, we're going to have to deal with the here and now, right? So open your Bibles with me to Romans, the fourth chapter. Let's read from verse 17. Now this is an Old Testament scripture that the Apostle Paul is just simply bringing to our remembrance. He says, As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were. Now notice that God calls things that are not as though they were. Abraham called things that were not as though they were. Now he did that because God did that. God taught Abraham to do that. Now this is God's method. God's method is to call things that are not as though they were until they are. And then when they are, they displace what was. Now that's God's method. And I'm going to endeavor in the next few minutes to get this over to you in the simple form of where you can understand it. Because when I saw this, it made a tremendous difference in the way that I thought, the way that I acted, because I learned that this was a principle that not only worked in Abraham's day, but it'll work today for us if we will be obedient to what the Word says. Now notice that he says he called things that were not as though they were, And then verse 18 says, Who against hope believed in hope that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, so shall thy seed be. And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about a hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah's womb. He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strong in faith, being fully persuaded that what he had promised he was also able to perform. You know what it means to be fully persuaded? Fully persuaded. And you know, that's been the problem sometimes. We haven't been fully persuaded about some things. You know how Abraham got fully persuaded about this situation? When there was no natural hope, Abraham made a decision to believe in hope. Now somebody might say, well, how in the world can you believe in something when there's not any? How could you believe in hope if there's not any hope? Well, it meant there was no natural hope. So Abraham went to the word of God and got him some supernatural hope. Now there may be some of you, some of you, the doctors may have told you there is no hope medically for you. There's nothing that medicine can do for you. You know, you may have something that they say is incurable. It may be something that they call terminal. But when there is no natural hope, always go back to the Word of God and get you some supernatural hope. Now, notice Abraham decided to believe in hope when there was none. Naturally speaking, when there was none, he made a decision to believe in hope. Now, believing God is not something that you just wake up some morning just feeling like believing God. You realize that, don't you? You don't always want to believe God. There are some days you just wish you didn't have to believe God. It'd just be a lot easier, it seemed like, to be sick than to believe God. Or just to walk in lack than to believe God. But we have to make a decision to deal with the situation at hand. So when Abraham couldn't find any natural hope, he found supernatural hope in the Word of God. Now, I don't want to dwell on that too long because I want to get on to some other things here. I've got a lot of things I want to share with you. But he says he called things that were not as though they were. Now the first thing that God did when he spoke to Abraham about this, he changed his name. His name was Abram at the time, and he changed his to Abraham, which meant father of nations or father of a multitude. So every time that Abraham went to meet with anybody or anybody ever called him, they said Abraham, and he heard Abraham. Father of nations. He heard what God said. He didn't hear Abraham. He heard father of nations, father of nations, father of nations. Now, he's 75 years old when God first started talking to him about this. But before the child came, he was 100 years old, the promised child. Now, there was room to doubt in there, wasn't there? He could have been on a cane, for all I know, when God renamed him. But he kept saying, I'm the father of nations. I'm the father of nations. See, in those days, when they named someone, it really meant something. Now, today, they just kind of put them in a hat and just draw one out. It doesn't matter what the name is, you know. But in those days, it meant something. So when Abraham said to someone, I am Abraham, he said, I am the father of nations. Now, they wanted to laugh about it, but they didn't dare do it because all the people in the county worked for him. God made him rich. Now, faith cometh by what? Hearing the word of God. Now, wasn't that what God said about him? God named him Abraham. So that was God's word to him. So he took that and got him some supernatural hope. This is how he became fully persuaded, was by saying what God said. Now, when God first said it, Abraham really didn't believe it. The Bible said he laughed. Sarah laughed. But he kept saying it and he kept saying it and he kept saying it and he kept saying it and he kept saying it and he got to believe in it. He called the manifestation of it. Now God told him to do that. This is the way the Bible tells us that we can enter into the provisions that God has made and the promises of God. Now see, this was a promise God made to Abraham and his seed. He said, Sarah will conceive and have a child, that your seed will be as the sand of the sea and as the stars of the heaven, multitude. In fact, God took him out under the stars of the sky and said, look up, can you number the stars? What's he doing? He's giving him a vision or an image of what is to be. Now, it sure didn't look like it was that way. It sure didn't seem like it was that way. And to Abraham at that time, it didn't look like it would ever be that way. But if he can conceive it and believe it, then God can perform it. Now see, we have to understand something. That God gives us supernatural word and supernatural wisdom to draw from. Now how many of you know God's word is full of faith? God's word is filled with faith. Now, if it wasn't filled with faith, you couldn't get any faith from hearing the word of God. But his word is filled with faith. Therefore, when you hear it, faith cometh. Say it with me. Faith cometh. Faith cometh by hearing. And that's exactly the way it comes. And that's the way Abraham received it, by hearing the word of God. Now notice, God chosen. Yea, and things which are not to bring to naught things that are. Amen. Amen. Amen. See, so many people get wrapped up in calling it like it is. And you hear people saying, well, you know, you just have to say it like it is. No, you don't. The Scripture doesn't teach us to call it like it is. The Scripture teaches us to call things that are not things. as though they were until they are. Now that's the scriptural basis for it. You don't get but two verses into Genesis chapter 1 until you find God calling things that are not as though they were. He looked out and saw darkness. And he said, Light be, and light was. Well, you punched the wrong button. And a lot of you are punching the wrong button and wondering why you didn't go somewhere or something didn't change. That's offer number 7215, entitled Calling Things That Are Not. SPEAKER 03 :
Jesus came to this earth as a man. He had the legal body of a man which gave him legal authority to exercise dominion in the planet earth. But until the Holy Ghost came upon him, he didn't have the ability to cast out the devil. Now let me show you something where we've missed it. We've said he did it because he was a son of God. Jesus said the Spirit of the Lord is upon me because he's anointed me. Now if it were true that he was God manifest in the flesh and all of his divine Godhead powers, why would God have to anoint him? That proves that he wasn't. He came as a man. He was a son of God, all right. He was God in essence manifest in the flesh, but not in his divine Godhead powers. But after he lived 30 years perfect and upright under the old covenant, it was legal for God to anoint him with the Holy Ghost and healing power. Now go with me. We're still talking about Jesus' authority that he operated in on the earth. Go with me to John's Gospel once again. John chapter 5 says, And let's see what Jesus says about the authority that he has. Verse 26 and 27. Now Jesus is speaking. He says, As the Father hath life in himself, so hath he given the Son to have life in himself, and hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of Man. Amen. Now see, if you're not careful, you'll read that, the Son of God. For years, I read it, the Son of God, because I had a preconceived idea. He said, I have authority to do it because I'm the Son of Man. Not because He was the Son of God, even though He was the Son of God. He said, the reason I have authority is because I'm the Son of Man. Now see, that's what all the virgin birth and all of this deal was about, was to get a man in the earth that had no sin in him, but he had a physical body. It gave him legal authority here. And then it would be legal for God to anoint him if he could live perfect and upright under that old covenant. Now somebody said, it sure leaves us out, don't it? Nope. We can live perfect and upright under the new covenant as though sin had never been because of 1 John 1, 9. If we confess our sins, He's faithful and just to forgive us our sins. Cleanse us from all, say all. All unrighteousness. Now, let's go over to Mark, the 11th chapter. And let's notice that the religious leaders, they cannot find out how in the world Jesus is doing all these things. Verse 27, they come again to Jerusalem, and as he was walking in the temple, they're coming to him, the chief priest, the scribes and the elders, and they say unto him, By what authority doest thou these things? And who gave thee the authority to do these things? Jesus answered and said unto them, I'll also ask you one question, and answer me, and I'll tell you by what authority I do these things. The baptism of John, was it from heaven or men? Answer me. Well, they didn't answer him because they said, if we say it's a man, we're going to get stoned because they believe John's a prophet. If we say from heaven, he'll say, why didn't you believe him? So they say, we can't tell. Jesus said, neither do I tell you. And I asked the Lord, I said, I know there's something else there that you was going to pull on them. He said, well, it's very simple. He said, if they'd answered my question accurately, it answered both of their questions. Because notice what Jesus asked. I'll ask you one question. The baptism of John, was it from heaven or men? Now the real answer was that John's baptism was of man. But he was anointed of God. See, John's baptism was not the baptism from heaven. The baptism from heaven was the Holy Ghost and fire. That was the baptism from heaven. But you see, they were afraid to answer. And he said, it's very simple. I'm going to say to them, you answered your own question. See, by what authority doest thou these things? By the authority of a man and by the anointing of God. That's how it came about. That's how Jesus' ministry operated on the planet earth, was by the authority of a man and by the anointing of God. Now you see, it makes a difference when you understand that your body gives you authority on this planet. Don't let the devil push you around. You're the one with the authority on this planet. Now, if you don't have the anointing of God, then you may get pushed around by the devil. Just because you have authority doesn't mean you have the anointing. But if you're born again and Jesus lives in you, you need to get filled with the Holy Ghost. Because the same Holy Ghost, baptized in the Holy Ghost, same power that operated through Jesus. And Jesus said, "...the works that I do shall you do also." In other words, he's saying that the power that's operating through me is not limited to me. It's also available to you. But now if you don't know that, you see, you can't act on it. You can't believe any further than you have knowledge. It makes a difference when you know that your body gives you authority. Now let me show you something to wrap this thing up. Jesus healed the sick and raised the dead and cast out demons when he was here on earth. But did you notice at the pool of Bethesda only one fellow got healed? And there was a multitude of people there. But now Jesus went to the cross, he died, he paid the debt for our sins, he suffered the stripes upon his back that we might be healed. God sent his word and healed us, the Bible says. But did you notice the morning that Mary went to the tomb, the stone was rolled away already? And she's weeping and crying and there's a guy standing back behind her and she thought it was a gardener. And she said, they've took him and I don't know where they've put him. And she's talking to Jesus. You know what he was doing there? He went back by that tomb to get his body. He put his body back on. Now he's got a glorified body. You see, the disciples, they was all hoarded up in a room and had the doors locked. And Jesus just walked through the wall and appeared in the midst of them. He said, I'll eat with them. Get up and walk through the wall. Glory to God. Now you can quit worrying about poor Jesus. He ain't poor no more. He's all right. You can quit crying about the stripes on his back. He's well, thank God. Oh, he's still got the scars all right. But they'll be beautiful. Everything he suffered, he suffered for you. Jesus is called the Son of Man. But now here's the point. Jesus now has his glorified body. Now surely, he'll go to the hospital and he'll heal all the sick. He'll go to the pool of Bethesda now and he'll heal all the crippled folks down there. And he'll get them all healed. But he didn't. In fact, he never healed one single person after he arose from the dead. Now I'm talking about by laying his physical hands on somebody or ministering physically to somebody. He still heals, He still delivers, but He does it through the Spirit of God and through the Holy Ghost now, and He does it through individuals. Now listen to me closely, because this is the consummation of all that we've said in this session. The reason Jesus didn't minister physically to people after He arose from the dead with the glorified body, didn't heal any sick people, didn't cast out any demons, didn't do any miracles after He arose from the dead, was because He is restored to His Godhead powers as God. And it's illegal for Him. to physically minister to people after he had his glorified body and his Godhead powers back as God because of what Genesis 1 says, he gave man dominion. He lost his right to operate as a man on the earth after he got his glorified body. You have to have a flesh, blood, and bone body to operate on this planet earth with the authority to heal the sick, cast out demons, and to do the work that Jesus did. Jesus now has a flesh and bone body. He spilt his blood to redeem mankind. And the Bible says he's seated at the right hand of the Father until his enemies have made his footstool. In other words, he's there and he's not coming back. Now somebody said, well, somebody saw Jesus come in their hospital room and he walked up to the foot of their bed and he touched them and healed them. No, somebody had a spiritual vision of Jesus. From the time he sat down at the right hand of the Father, he's never left there in his physical flesh and bone body. His glorified body is still there. The only body that Jesus has on the planet earth today is the body of Christ, which is the church. Can you see that? Now you know why the Apostle Paul says, now you are the body of Christ. It's the only body that he has. If Jesus is going to heal the sick today, if he's going to cast out demons, if he's going to deliver and do miracles, he has to do it through someone that has a body. You're the one with the body. You can't send the Holy Ghost to Africa to preach. You can't send angels to India to preach the gospel. They don't have a body. Oh, they have a spiritual body. They don't have a physical body. But you see, we have physical bodies. It gives us authority here. That's why the angel couldn't preach the gospel to Cornelius. You are the only body that Christ has on the planet earth today. The church. I'm talking about the church. is called the body of Christ. Now can you understand what part the body plays? The body of Christ today, the church, is the only legal authority on this planet to operate in the divine power of God and heal the sick and cast out demons and bring miracles into manifestation. Say this, I am the body of Christ. And members in particular. God's power Is channeled through me. For I'm anointed with the Holy Ghost. And He heals the sick. And He casts out demons. For I'm a channel of God's power. Hallelujah. Praise the name of the Lord. Well, give Jesus a hand. Praise God forevermore. God bless you. We do appreciate you joining us for the Concepts of Faith broadcast. Now, this is the last day for CD offer number 7411. It's called the Authority Series. Four CDs for $29 plus $5 postage and handling. A total of $34. Now, in this series, we talk about the fact that your body gives you authority on this planet. You were born here. And when you really dig into the Scriptures, you'll find out that your body gives you authority over the devil, demons, and evil spirits. Now, you need the ability to resist and overcome and enforce Satan's defeat. Jesus defeated Satan on the Mount of Temptation. He shook his kingdom beyond repair because Jesus just kept saying, it is written, it is written, it is written. In other words, he used the Word of God to defeat the devil. And the devil never did come back to him with those temptations. I mean, it settled it forever. And I'm telling you, folks, it'll settle it forever if you keep God's Word in your mouth. If you'll say what God says when the enemy comes with temptation, he has no out. The Bible says that if you submit yourself unto God, resist the devil, he'll flee from you. Sometimes so many people say, well, you know, the Apostle Paul, he had a sickness and God wouldn't heal him. He prayed that God remove the thorn in the flesh three times and the Lord said, my grace is sufficient for you. Now, most people say, he said, no, I won't heal you, Paul. Your strength is made perfect in weakness. No, that wasn't what God said. God said, My grace is sufficient for you. In other words, Paul had to do it himself. He had the authority to destroy the works of the devil. And the last chapter of the book of Acts, you find out that he did get rid of it. That's offer number 7411, Authority Series, four CDs for $29 plus $5 postage and handling, a total of $34.00. Toll-free order line is 1-877-396-9400. 1-877-396-9400. SPEAKER 01 :
Now, Satan is illegal on this planet. He has no authority here, but he has lorded it over God's heritage by fear and trying to con you into believing that he is the big devil with all the almighty power. Satan, the devil, is no match for any Christian born of the Spirit of God that knows his right standing in Jesus and his righteousness in Christ. If you're born again, you have become the righteousness of God in Christ. And Christ dwells in you. And Jesus gave him a licking that he has never forgotten. And when he looks at you and sees the righteousness of God, he don't know whether that's you or God in there. All right, we're in 10th chapter of John. Jesus said, Verily I say unto you, he that enter not by the door of the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same as a thief and a robber. You see, every one of you that are born on this planet have a legal document in your possession somewhere, almost every one of you, that will prove in the Supreme Court of this land that you have legal authority over demons and evil spirits. It's called a birth certificate. If you don't know nothing else to do, When the devil comes around your business, around your house, around your family affairs, if you don't know anything else to do, get your birth certificate out. Say, hey, Mr. Devil, look. Born January 4, 1934. Bromitt, Arkansas. Somebody say, big deal. What's that mean? The devil knows what it means. You have a legal document that says you're a legal resident of this planet, which gives you authority on this planet. He doesn't have one. He does not have a physical flesh, blood, and bone body. Therefore, he's illegal on this planet. And the only way that he can do anything on this planet is he has to get in some body, right? He has to have a body to manifest himself. Don't give him your body. That's the only way he can get any authority. And the Garden of Eden, you notice, he borrowed the body of a serpent. You see, spirit beings, unless they have a body, can do very little on this planet. You see, the devil would destroy this planet in an instant of time if he could. He destroyed it years ago. But he can't do it. He has to get in somebody to do it. Now, right on the other hand, God is limited by the same means. God and the Holy Spirit can do very little on this planet unless they can get in somebody. You know why the devil wants your body sick, crippled, or dead? Because it'll inhibit your authority. Have you noticed people, when they lose their body, they don't vote, they don't demonstrate. You lose your right to operate on this planet when you lose your body. Now see, demons and evil spirits, they climbed up some other way. They were not born here. Somebody said, well, Adam wasn't born here either. No, but God gave him dominion. And you see, we inherited it through the fact that we were born here. We're legal residents of this planet. No Christian should ever be afraid of demons and evil spirits. Isaiah said they'll narrowly look upon him. And they'll say, is he the one that deceived the nations? Probably some little hairy monkey looking thing about a foot and a half tall. And the Christians run from him for years because he portrayed himself as the big devil. Somebody said, oh, aren't you afraid to say that? No, I want him to hear me say it. I want him to know that I know that he has no authority on this planet. People that have physical flesh, blood, and bone bodies have the authority on this planet. Satan has none. He'll exercise your authority if you'll lend it to him. If you'll lend him your mouth, he'll cause you more trouble than you know how to get out of. If you lend him your body, he'll send you to hell. He'll destroy you. Right on the other hand, God says, I sent my word and healed them and delivered them from their destruction. But you're going to have to lend your body to God. Paul said, present your bodies to God. You remember what Jesus said? Jesus said, sacrifice an offering thou wouldest not, but a body thou hast prepared me. Jesus got his authority on this planet by having a physical flesh, blood, and bone body. Now, Luke chapter 4. Now, you'd have thought they'd want to vote Jesus in as pastor after he's preached that great sermon. But they didn't. They wanted to kill him. You think you've had it hard. First sermon he preached in his own hometown. They wanted to kill him. They wanted to throw him down a hill headlong. Now he went from there to Capernaum. And verse 32 says, And they were astonished at his doctrine, for his word was with power. And in the synagogue there was a man which had a spirit of unclean devil, cried out with a loud voice, saying, Let us alone. What have I to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? Art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God. Now listen to this. Here's a demon crying out and said, I know who you are. You're the Holy One of God. Now what's going on? You mean to tell me now demons have started witnessing for Jesus? Why in the world would a demon witness for Jesus? Well, it looked to me like demons would say, don't believe this fellow. He's a false prophet. Why would a demon tell the truth? Only if he thought it was to his advantage to do so. You know what he was doing? He was challenging the authority of Jesus. He said, I know who you are. You're God manifest in the flesh. You're not pulling any wool over my eyes. You're Jesus of Nazareth, the Holy One of God. And you can't cast me out. It's illegal because you gave man authority on this planet. And I happen to know you're God manifest in the flesh. You're the Son of God. You're not a man. And Jesus, I like what he said. He just said, shut your mouth and come out of it. Thank God he did. He came out of him. Confused as the devil himself. How did he do it? How did he cast me out? I can just hear the demon whining. How did he cast me out? Devil, you told me that he didn't have authority to do it. But you see, the devil didn't know everything. See, he was confused about the virgin birth too. The Bible says if the prince of this world had known, he wouldn't have crucified the Lord of glory. I guess not, because all he did was plant him. And he came up. One of the worst things Satan ever saw was when Jesus arose from the dead. Then the next worst thing he ever saw was on the day of Pentecost. You see, he couldn't handle one Jesus. And on the day of Pentecost, there was 120 poured out of the same mold. With demon, devil casting out powers to heal the sick and raise the dead. And if that wasn't bad enough, before the day was over, there was 3,120. And there's been more every day since. And it's not getting any better for the devil. Glory to God. The more people that get born again, the more Satan gets on tranquilizers. Brother, he's had it going in. Now watch the things that happened here. Go to Matthew, the eighth chapter again. Let's see it again in the Scripture. Verse 29, And behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, thou Jesus, the Son of God? Art thou come hither to torment us before the time? Now what's he talking about? This demon is saying, Jesus, I know who you are. You're the Son of God. Here he goes witnessing for Jesus again. Have you come to torment us before the time? What time? See, the devil and demons know there's a time set. He's talking about when the lease runs out. When the lease on this planet runs out. He's had it and he knows it. But he's challenging Jesus. It's not time yet. You can't torment us. But he cast him out. Now if you notice in Mark the 5th chapter. There again Jesus is challenged. He challenges his authority. In verse 7, he cried with a loud voice and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the Most High God? I adjure thee by God that thou torment me not. Now what's going on? Here is a demon trying to bring God in on the deal. He thought God was going to take up for him. Can you imagine that? The demon thought, if I say I command you, see, that's a military term. A juror is a military term. I command you by God that you torment me not. Now, see, he thought he had some authority to do that. because he knew that it was illegal for God to destroy the works of the devil, and he knew that Jesus was, in essence, God manifest in the flesh. But what he didn't understand was what Philippians 2 says, he made of himself no reputation. The Greek says he stripped himself when he came to the earth. Though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor. He stripped himself of his divine authority. He came to this earth as a man. He had the legal authority and the legal body of a man, which gave him legal authority to exercise dominion in the planet earth. But until the Holy Ghost came upon him, he didn't have the ability to cast out the devil. Now let me show you something where we've missed it. We've said he did it because he was a son of God. Jesus said, the Spirit of the Lord is upon me because he's anointed me. Now, if it were true that he was God manifest in the flesh and all of his divine Godhead powers, why would God have to anoint him? That proves that he wasn't. He came as a man. He was a son of God, all right. He was God in essence manifest in the flesh, but not in his divine Godhead powers. But after he lived 30 years perfect and upright under the old covenant, it was legal for God to anoint him with the Holy Ghost and healing power. I'm glad you joined us for the Concepts of Faith broadcast today. Now we're talking all this week about authority and we're offering CD offer number 7411. It's called the Authority Series. Four CDs for $29 plus $5 postage and handling. A total of $34. Now, if you don't understand that you have authority on this earth, you're going to let the devil run over you roughshod. I'm telling you, folks, there's some things that you need to understand about authority that God has given us. First of all, you need to understand that You have a physical flesh, blood, and bone body. Your body gives you authority on this earth. And so many times you hear people saying, oh, we just got to beat the old flesh to death because the flesh is so sinful. No, it's not. No, you can train the flesh to be righteous or sinful or any other way. It is neutral, really, and you train it the way you want it. When Jesus was born on this planet, he had to be born here to have authority here. The Bible says that he came to destroy the works that the devil had done. Well, he had the authority to do that because he was born on this planet. He was a legal resident of the planet Earth, and that gave him authority to destroy the works of the devil. But did you notice he didn't destroy the works of the devil until the Holy Ghost came upon him when he was baptized in the River Jordan? And then he began to do great and mighty miracles and cast out demons, heal the sick, raise the dead, and kill fig trees and stop storms. I'm telling you, he had authority on this planet because he was a man. Now, why didn't he do it before he was 30 years of age when he was baptized in the River Jordan? because he didn't have the ability to do it, because he was born here as a man. He was a son of God, all right, but he took on him the authority of a man so he'd have authority, and it was legal for God to anoint him then to cast out demons and heal the sick and destroy the works of the devil. You need this series. It's offer number 7411, Authority Series, four CDs for $29 plus $5 postage and handling. A total of $34. We have a toll-free order line, 1-877-396-9400. So what we see then in the Scripture is that God made covenants with men. Somebody said, well, how did God destroy the earth with water if he was left on the outside looking in? How did he do all those things then? Did you notice he made a covenant with Noah? That's how he had access to do it. Now, there's certain things God could do in the earth, but there was a lot of things God couldn't do. Not because he didn't have the power to do it, but because of his word, he was limited in what he could do. See, there's certain things God can't do. God can't lie. And if God had to come in here and his divine Godhead power started destroying the works of the devil, then God would have been a liar. Now, let's go over to Luke, the third chapter. Now, while you're turning there, let me just kind of fill you in on some things. Jesus was born in the earth. He lived for 30 years on this planet earth. See, we're talking about the authority now, authority of mankind. And it's actually the authority that Jesus operated in on this planet earth was the authority of a man. Now just stay with us, it'll all turn out all right. Certainly he was a son of God, but he operated with the authority of a man. Now he lived for 30 years on this planet earth. He did something that had never been done in all of the years before. He lived and walked perfect upright under that old covenant. And he fulfilled it to the letter. Now see, he said, I didn't come to destroy the law, but to fulfill it. Now no man had ever been able to do that. And because he did that, then it made it legal for God to anoint him with the Holy Ghost and healing power. Delivering, devil casting out power. God anointed him with it. Now there's a misconception in the religious circles about why Jesus healed the sick. Some say that he healed the sick because he was the Son of God. Well, the Bible doesn't teach that. It teaches something very different. And I want us to see it. Jesus healed the sick because God anointed him. He was certainly the Son of God, all right. But that wasn't the reason he healed the sick. Because for 30 years he was the Son of God. And never healed a single person. Not one. He didn't cast out one demon. Not one. He didn't do any miracles. Not one for 30 years. You know why he didn't? Because he couldn't. Somebody said, you mean you think Jesus couldn't? I know he couldn't. From what the scripture says. He could only do it after God anointed him. Now let me show it to you in the Scripture. There in Luke, the third chapter, verse 21. Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass that Jesus, being baptized and praying, the heavens were opened, the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape, like a dove upon Him, and a voice came from heaven which said, Thou art my beloved Son, and Thee I am well pleased. And Jesus Himself began to be about thirty years of age, being, as was supposed, the Son of Joseph. Well, we know He wasn't the Son of Joseph. He was the Son of God, all right. But yet, for 30 years, He didn't do any miracles. For 30 years, He didn't heal any sick people. Now, surely He's as much the Son of God when He's 29 as He was when He's 30. So you see, the idea that Jesus healed the sick because He was the Son of God just won't hold up in the light of the Scriptures. Because He was the Son of God when He was 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, and 30 years. But now notice what happened when he was baptized in the River Jordan. The Holy Ghost descended on him. Same Holy Ghost that came on the day of Pentecost. The same Holy Ghost that dwells in the believer today. Now watch what happened after this. Now we'll skip some things for the sake of time, but come over to the fourth chapter of Luke. Verse 14, And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee, and there went out a fame of him throughout all the region round about. He taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all. And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and his custom was he went into the synagogue. On the Sabbath day he stood up for to read, and there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Isaiah. When he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written. Notice he found the place. He deliberately took a text from this Scripture. The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor. He hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, preach deliverance to the captive, recovering of sight to the blind, set at liberty them that are bruised, that preach the acceptable year of the Lord. He closed the book, gave it again to the minister, sat down the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue, were fastened upon him. He began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears. Now you'll notice at this point, Jesus went to Isaiah, the 61st chapter, and he said what God said about him. Well, now God said that about him hundreds of years before through the prophet Isaiah. But he didn't heal the sick. He didn't cause the blind to see when he was 29 years old. And this scripture was just as strong then as it was now. What was the difference? The difference was the anointing of the Holy Ghost. For 30 years he walked perfect and upright under the old covenant without the anointing of God to heal the sick, to cast out demons. But now when the Holy Ghost descended upon him, he's a different man. Now what you need to understand is that Jesus had to be born with a physical flesh, blood, and bone body to have authority on the planet earth. That's why He had to be born of a virgin. He couldn't have an earthly father. He had to have the blood of God in him. The life of God in him. Or he'd have been like every other fallen man. He was the son of God, all right. But yet he was born on this earth as a man. First of all, now listen to me closely. First of all, Jesus was a man. He had a physical body. He walked like a man. He talked like a man. He ate like a man. He got tired like a man. You know why? Because he was a man. He was son of God, all right, but he's still a man. See, he called himself the son of man. He always called himself the son of man. He related to the fact of man. Now, follow me over to the 10th chapter of the Gospel of John. Verse 1 and 2. Jesus gives some insight into it. Verse 1, he says, Now, specifically, verse 1 is talking about the devil. But it also includes demons and evil spirits. Verse 2, Jesus said, He that entered in by the door is a shepherd of the sheep. Now, specifically, verse 2 is talking about Jesus. He is the great shepherd. But it includes every person that's born on this planet. Now, that doesn't mean that every person that's born here is a shepherd. What he's saying is, the shepherd has legal right to be in the sheepfold. Somebody that climbs up some other way into the sheepfold is up to no good. He's coming to steal, kill, and destroy. See, he says that in verse 10. The thief cometh not, but for to steal, to kill, and destroy. I am come that you might have life and have it more abundantly. Now, that's the dividing line of the Bible. If you'll get a good understanding of that, you'll have a good balanced understanding of the Bible. That Satan comes to steal, kill, and destroy. Jesus came to give you life and it more abundantly. Always. Say always. Always. Satan always comes to steal, kill, and destroy. Jesus always, always comes to bring life in it more abundantly. He never brings sickness. He never brings disease. He never brings poverty. Life in it more abundantly. Now, let's take a look at this. He said, he that enter not by the door. The door simply represents a legal entry. There's a legal entry into this building. There's a legal entry into the First National downtown. You don't want to go messing around the windows, you know, at night. Get in illegally. They'll put you in jail. He that entered not by the door, in other words, through the legal entry into the sheepfold. Now the sheepfold is the earth. It's not heaven, it's the earth. He that entered not into the earth through the legal entry, but climbed up some of the way, is a thief and a robber. Now that's Satan. It also includes demons and evil spirits. And Satan is the one that entered illegally into this planet. Now you want to know what the legal entry is? Jesus said, I entered in through the door. The door into this planet is being born here. Say born. Born of a woman is the legal entry into this planet. Now, any spirit being, listen closely, any spirit being that enters into this planet any other way than being born here can do very little on this planet. They have no authority. Very little authority, if any, on this planet. Therefore, Jesus is saying Satan is illegal to this planet. He has no authority here. He was not born here. He does not have a physical body. Jesus said to Nicodemus, that which is born of flesh is flesh. This body is flesh because it was born of flesh. That which is born of spirit is spirit. In other words, he told Nicodemus, the legal entry into the earth is being born here. The legal entry into the kingdom of God is being born of the spirit. A little further on, Jesus said, I am the door. He is the door into the kingdom of God. In verse 2, he came by the door, the legal entry into the earth, which is being born of the flesh. If you're born again, you have become the righteousness of God in Christ. and Christ dwells in you, and Jesus gave him a lichen that he has never forgotten, and when he looks at you and sees the righteousness of God, he don't know whether that's you or God in there. The Authority of Man, The Authority of Jesus We talk about many people in the body of Christ have never understood about God and about Jesus and His ministry here on earth. I promise you it's an eyebrow-raising series concerning your authority as a believer. You know, in the beginning, in Genesis' account, God said, Let us make man in our image and our likeness, and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the fowl there, over the cattle, over all the earth, over every creeping thing. Now, folks, it's just good news to know that you have dominion over creeps today. I'm telling you, there's a lot of strange things going on out there. But God created man in his own image. In the image of God created he him, male and female, created he them. God blessed them, said to them, Be fruitful, multiply, replenish the earth, and subdue it, and have dominion over it. Now, Psalms 8 says, Over all the work of his hands. Now, so many people get the idea that, well, you know, God just kind of left us here to kind of fend for ourself, and we don't have any authority. We're just hoping to God that he'll build us a cabin in the corner of glory land. No, in the name of Jesus, he gave us authority to use his name, and his name is above every name, above principalities, power, might, and dominion. and every name that is named in heaven and earth.
