Today from the International Gospel Hour, we affirm that man needs the Bible more than ever before. Let’s see why man needs the Bible. And again, that’s today from the International Gospel Hour. Please stay with us.
SPEAKER 02 :
Hi, this is Jay Webb for International Gospel Hour. For 90 years, churches of Christ have proclaimed God’s Word through International Gospel Hour. You are about to listen to another Bible-based lesson with Jeff Archie of International Gospel Hour, starting now.
SPEAKER 03 :
Well, thank you to our J-Web, and greetings everyone. So great to have you with us today, and thank you for joining us here for our broadcast from the International Gospel Hour. You know, in 2022, a Gallup poll presented for the first time ever that less than half of U.S. citizens viewed the Bible as the divinely inspired Word of God. Now, imagine that, friends. America, which in many cases claims itself as a Christian nation, has less than half of its residents believe that the Bible is the Word of God. Now, not only this result, but from such thinking as well, you find beliefs from within. Folks, man needs the Bible. I mean, you take a look at a lot of the thinking and reasoning today today, Man needs the Bible, and today we are going to establish why man needs the Bible as a reminder and a plea that if man wishes to renew and revive his living, he needs the Bible. Now, before we begin, we are blessed to have this study today in an old-fashioned chart form that is available on our International Gospel Hour Facebook page, as well as Instagram, and X, formerly known as Twitter. Now, speaking of that, I want to pause and defer to our J-Web so you can join us on social media, see this chart, and download it if you’d like. Here is our J-Web.
SPEAKER 02 :

SPEAKER 03 :
Friend, let me also add, you can find and follow us at Instagram, or on Instagram, rather, at International Gospel Hour, and on X, formerly Twitter, at H-O-U-R underscore gospel. That’s H-O-U-R underscore gospel. And again, you can find this chart, and I’ll give you just a brief background. This chart is what we commonly called chart lessons that were constructed on bed sheets. That’s right. Many of you may remember that as a child. and people, preachers rather, would hang up these charts on a wire, and would preach and teach from these bed sheets, or sheet lessons we called them, or chart lessons. Well, due to modern day technology, we share those as JPEGs, and you will be amazed at the beautiful artwork that’s done. Again, you can find this lesson at our social media of International Gospel Hour. Now, let’s talk about man needs the Bible. Number one, why does man need the Bible? Well, dear friends, it’s the best light of the past. It tells us of the origin of this world and of man. Genesis 1 and verse 3, the Bible says, Let there be light, and there was light, the word of God. And throughout the book of Genesis, we find the past, the origin from which we came. It’s the best light for the present. It reminds us of our mission. That in 2 Thessalonians 2 and verse 15, these are words in which we can stand fast and hold the traditions which we were taught, whether by word or the epistles. Now friends, when we talk about tradition, we talk about biblical traditions. Things that are true to the Bible. Man’s traditions can take us awry, but biblical traditions will stand true. Not only is it the best light of the past of our origin, the present for our mission, but the best light for our future and our destiny. In Matthew 25, 46, we are reminded of the day of judgment of those who are wicked will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life. That’s why man needs the Bible. It teaches our past, our present, and our future. Second, let’s think about the timelessness of the Bible. Friends, it’s never out of date. And when you look at the Bible, there is nothing that we need to add to the Bible, nor do we need to take it away from the Bible. We are warned of this in 2 John 9, not to add to or to take away, and also affirmed in Galatians 1 in verse 9 that if people bring another gospel, they will be accursed. You think about it, friends. We cannot add to God’s wisdom. The Bible met man’s needs then. It meets man’s needs now. Romans 1, 16 and 17 reminds us of the powerful gospel. And in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith. For as it is written, the just shall live by faith. The righteousness of God is revealed throughout the Bible and by the Bible. In 1 Corinthians 15, 1-4 says, Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received, and in which you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures. The Bible is never out of date, friends. Its timelessness stands firm to this day. Third, the Bible blesses man. You know, it teaches us of God, of Christ, of the Holy Spirit. There’s no other book that can explain God, Christ, and the Holy Spirit. The church, all the things therein, salvation for man. and it completely furnishes man to every good work, as affirmed in 2 Timothy 3, verse 16 and 17. All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.” And God has provided us all things that pertain to life and godliness, 2 Peter 1 and verse 3. Yes, friends, the Bible blesses man and how grateful we are. Fourth, man needs the Bible because man will be judged by the Bible. Listen to the words of Jesus in John 12 and verse 48. Jesus said, He that rejects me and receives not my words has one that will judge him. The word that I have spoken, the same will judge him in the last day. The Bible is a book of which we will be judged, friends. And in 2 Thessalonians 1, 7-9, the Bible says, And to give you who are troubled, rest with us. When the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels in flaming fire, take in vengeance on them who do not know God and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power. We will be judged by the Bible, friends, and that’s why we need to know the Bible. Friends, our broadcast today affirms man needs the Bible. And today our J-Web is going to tell you of a free online Bible course simply called Believe the Bible. It ties in perfectly with our lesson today. I’m going to defer to our J-Web, then I’ll be back to wrap up our broadcast.
