Thank you for joining us and stay right here where you listen to International Gospel Hour each and every time we are on the air. Today we want to look at Psalm 119 verses 9 through 11. A text that simply says, How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to your word. With my whole heart I have sought you. Oh, let me not wander from your commandments. Your word have I hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against you. So here’s the question with the answer. How can a young man cleanse his way? How can a young person have a clean way and a clean walk? By taking heed according to the word of God. Then the commitment of the whole heart that will seek the Lord Jesus Christ, that will seek God, and not to wander from it. And then to hide that word in the heart to fight against sin. You know, when I look at the American Standard Version, Thy word have I laid up in my heart. The New American Standard Version says, Your word I have treasured in my heart. The ESV says, I have stored up your word in my heart. God’s word laid up, treasured, stored up. Now, how can that be when we can look at verses 9 and 10 and it tells us, here’s how you go about doing it. That’s what we’re going to study about today, a special broadcast for our youth. Now, a lot of times somebody says, well, I’m not a young person. No, but I dare say you have influence with a lot of young people, and we hope this will be of help. Now, before we get into our study, here’s something that a lot of adults will request to share with their children or grandchildren or young friends. And this is a free copy of a wonderful publication called Discovery. Here is our J-Web with the details of how you can receive that free copy. SPEAKER 01 :
The best way for youth. Well, let’s begin with proper attention. Back to our lesson text. Verse 9 of Psalm 119. How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to your word. Living the word, guarding the word, giving the proper attention. We have to listen, and that is the best way for our youth to give proper attention. You know, in 1 Timothy 4 and verse 12, when Paul told Timothy to be an example to the believers, he gave him a list. He says, for example, in word, the things that are said, to have sound speech that cannot be condemned, that he that is of the contrary parts may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you, Titus 2 and verse 8. So how our young people speak makes a great difference. Then he says in conversation or manner of life. where our conversation is in heaven from whence also we look for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, Philippians 3.20. So it’s not only what we say, but how we do. To express charity or love, John 13, 34 and 35, and John 14 and verse 15. Loving one another, but loving Christ and keeping His commandments. What about in spirit, the right attitude? God is a spirit, and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. Let him be an example of the believers in faith. That means the faith, the one faith in Ephesians 4 and verse 4, and the faith of which we are to contend, Jude verse 3. And then a young person give the proper attention to purity. To be pure in heart, Matthew 5 and verse 8. To express a pure religion of action, James 1 verse 27. So when we look at choosing the best way for youth, well, we begin, number one, with proper attention. that we take the Bible, the Word of God, and we give attention. And as we see, we give attention to the Word of God, and we are able to be an example of the believers in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity, 1 Timothy 4.12. Number two, the best way for youth, let’s continue with application. We give attention to the Word, but now let’s build on applying it to the Word. We go with verse 10. With my whole heart I have sought you, O let me not wander from your commandments. The proper attention to the word of God results in the proper application. Or as in James chapter 1 verses 22 and 23, to be that hearer of the word and not a doer only. If we’re a hearer but not a doer, we deceive ourselves. I would state here some what I call definites or things to apply in our lives. What we learn from the word of God and to apply them. Number one, there is a God and he created the world. Genesis 1 verse 1, Psalm 46 and verse 10. Hold to God, creating the world, and believe in God.

We have the Bible, God’s inspired word, to know His plan. 2 Timothy 3, 16 and 17. And it is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. Psalm 119, 105.

SPEAKER 01 :
Hold firm. Jesus Christ is the Son of God. Matthew 1, verse 21. Hebrews 5, 8 and 9. 4. 4. Hold true that the Bible teaches there is one church, and that is the church of which we are to be a part. Jesus promised to build it in Matthew 16, 18, and 19, and He is the head of His church, Ephesians 1, 22, and 23.

Remember the wisdom from your parents, Ephesians 6, 1-3, to obey them and to grow from their wisdom and knowledge.

Make sure your marriage is a Christian marriage. For God joined together man and woman, Genesis 1 and verse 27, and the teaching of the Christ in Matthew 19, 1 through 9, that man and woman should be for life. And number seven, keep your faithful friends close by. 1 Corinthians 15, 33 reminds us not to be deceived. Evil communications corrupt good manners. And in 2 Timothy 2 and verse 22, Flee also youthful lust, but follow after righteousness, faith, charity, peace with them. Follow with them who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. These seven truths are worthy of application, dear young people. There is a God and He created the world. We have the Bible, God’s inspired word to know His plan. Know that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. The Bible teaches there is one church. Remember the wisdom from your parents. Make sure your marriage is a Christian marriage, and keep faithful friends close. Apply these truths this way. Allow them to lead your life, and you will not wander as long as He guides you. Now, friends, we’ve talked about some wonderful things today. Young people or even adults that are listening, how about an online study of the Bible, an option to help you grow and to learn God’s will for your life? Once again, our J-Web.

Attention and application will equal the affirmation. that I might not sin against God. What a wonderful thought. Do you believe in Christ, willing to repent of your sins, confessing your faith, and to be baptized into Christ? We hope you’ll do that soon. And we want to help you as you walk in your life. We’ll continue this study together at another time. But for now, thank you for joining me on the International Gospel Hour. I’m Jeff Archie, and friends, keep listening.
