Barbara expands on the nuances of self-awareness and the vitality of spiritual communication with God. Discussing worldly views versus spiritual perspectives, she encourages listeners to focus on righteousness as highlighted in Amos. Testimonies of her own spiritual journey, alongside warnings about the pitfalls of pride and self-centeredness, give depth to her messages. Barbara’s sincerity shines through, especially as she explores the theme of rejection in faith and stresses the importance of joy as derived from a personal connection with the Holy Spirit.

SPEAKER 01 :
Welcome to Called a Freedom, and I am here at 1 o’clock every day, Monday through Thursday, and then, of course, Friday we have encore shows with Darren. I just love those shows. It reminds me of the 14 years that I had with him on the radio, and he was across from me at the desk here in the studio, and sometimes our eyes met, and they were flashing, and He was giving me signals across the table. It was a wonderful experience, even though sometimes I walked out of the studio befuddled, and I learned so much from him, even at the times that I was in disagreement with him. But it all turned out so well, and I’m so grateful for those 14 years. Oh, friend, as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love. I want you to remember that. Psalm 103, verse 11. When you love and honor God, oh, he just… He encircles you and surrounds you with his favor and the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. You are blessed to dispense for in him you live and move and have your being. We have a meeting this Saturday, April the 12th, and that’s our monthly call to freedom meeting the second Saturday of every month. And it looks like it’s going to be 85 degrees on Saturday. Can you believe that? We’ve had winter for quite a while here. So we may have lunch on the patio. The patio is a wreck right now, but we can fix that in Jesus’ name. And we’re going to have a really good time of fellowship. We’ll have a study on Jesus, the sacrificed lamb. And I believe it’s very appropriate because Saturday is Passover for the Jewish people. If you’d like to stay for lunch and would like to bring a side dish to accompany the beef and pasta casserole that I’ll have, if your last name begins with A through M, bring a dessert. And if your last name begins with N through Z, bring a salad. And if you have a favorite dish or if you have a favorite dish and you’d like to bring it, bring it on and call me at 1-877-917-7256. And if you’ve never come and you’d really be interested in that, call me at that number at I will give you directions to the meeting on Saturday. I just heard that the Supreme Court has handed down a ruling favoring the Trump administration on deporting illegal aliens. Isn’t that marvelous? It lifted a federal judge’s order. that tried to block the Trump administration from using the Alien Enemies Act of 1798. And, you know, when they say it’s archaic, well, then what do you think of the Constitution and the preamble and the Bill of Rights? That was written before then. We have to uphold some of these wonderful laws that were handed down. And it’s interesting. It is going to help in the deporting of some of these Venezuelan gang members who were released into the United States by the Biden administration. In a five-four majority opinion, the Supreme Court handed President Trump a major victory against legal challenges regarding his mass deportation agenda. They’re really explaining this. that President Trump is the commander in chief and he has the authority, not above the Supreme Court, of course, but he does have the authority in the United States. So this decision allows Trump to continue invoking the Alien Enemies Act to accelerate the removal of illegal immigrants believed to be in Trende Aragua. And we have a real challenge in Colorado. We do. We have a Democratic Congress here. We have a Democratic governor who just wants to do anything that’s against the conservative stand that a lot of people have in Colorado. But we need to keep praying, friend. We really do. And God is working on behalf of his people who want truth and justice and righteousness everywhere. in their towns and in their cities and in their state. And like Amos 5.24 says, we need to continue to say those scriptures over and over again, really, until it gets into our hearts and we know that’s God’s will. That’s what God wants. Let justice roll down like water and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream. It’s going to happen, friend. It’s going to happen. Our memory verse for this week is Deuteronomy 33, verses 26 and 27. God bless you. that that Israel touches when it comes to seeds to plant I mean it’s prosperous it’s just rich in wonderful uh harvests and the heavens drop down do how blessed you are oh Israel who else is like you a people saved by the Lord he is your protecting shield and your triumphant sword That triumphant sword is Holy Spirit. Remember that from Ephesians 6, verse 12 and 13. Don’t neglect Holy Spirit. Don’t neglect him. Pray to him. Talk to him. He’s your best friend. Just yesterday when I completed this heavy duty task that I had, I said, you truly are my helper. You’re my helper continually, Holy Spirit. Your enemies will cringe before you and you will stomp on their backs.
SPEAKER 1 :
Hallelujah.
SPEAKER 01 :
So our God is a protecting shield and Holy Spirit is our triumphant sword. How blessed we are, how truly blessed we are. Well, yesterday I told you that God, Jesus and Holy Spirit were in agreement when they created man in their own image. In God’s image, they created man and woman. And in God’s image, you were created. Yes, you were. When God created man, it was the command of the Father, Son, and the breath of Holy Spirit that made man. It was the breath of God that was behind the creation of man. When he created man in his own image, He created spirit first. That’s his spirit, the spirit of God. Then the soul, which is the emotions, the will, self-consciousness, and the body, which is directed by the five senses. And it’s what you’re wearing right now and what people recognize in you. I believe when you get to heaven and when we have the wonderful reunion we’re going to have, you are going to look like your very best on earth. I truly believe that. So think of what your very best years were and that’s how you’re going to look. I believe that. I really do. Unbelievers don’t know what joy is. We can experience those wonderful things. We can experience love and joy and peace. Those are the fruit of Holy Spirit. When you’re in Jesus Christ, you have those wonderful fruits. And the unbelievers don’t know what joy is all about because joy does not come out of the soul or out of the body. Oh, Barbara, I’ve seen the world really happy. Happy maybe because happiness has to do with the surroundings they’re in. Now you take those surroundings away from them and see how happy they are, how joyful they are. Joyful comes out of the spirit. That joy is wonderful and it’s from God and the joy of the Lord is our strength. It’s a wonderful thing to have. The world is basically selfish in nature and true joy cannot be exhibited in the soul or the body. It comes from the spirit. It comes from the spirit and to your spirit. And when Adam fell and when his spirit died, yes, died, he could no longer feel joy. And you may say, well, I don’t know if I believe that. Well, let’s get a couple of scriptures here. The Bible says that joy comes out of the spirit. So Mary said in Luke 1, my spirit has rejoiced in God, my Savior. And David said in Psalm 16, verse 11, and most of you know this one. In his presence is fullness of joy, and at his right hand are pleasures forevermore. All things work together for good. It’s the fact that God has a very best, your very best interest in his mind. Our spirits are the source of communication with God. And then what we hear from God in our spirits, from Holy Spirit, is communicated to our souls. And then when we are at the right point where the spirit has control over the soul and the mind, then from our souls, it goes to our bodies and our body gives an expression of what the spirit says. Well, because there’s either. laughter or smiling or, as we’re going to hear in the song today, lifting up the hands and praising God, our body gives an expression of what the Spirit says. And you may say, this is so elementary, Barbara. We know this. I did not know about this the first 40 years of my relationship with Jesus Christ. I knew I was born again. I knew I was a child of his. But I did not know that the soul and the body cannot listen, cannot hear Holy Spirit speaking. It’s spirit to spirit. And my friend, I did not know that until I married Darren. And that was 35 years ago. And he began telling me how in 1 Corinthians 2, verse 9 and 10 and 11, it’s the spirit that goes into the very depths of God to bring forth those mysteries for us. So I did not know about this. I really didn’t. I was ignorant. So when there are moments of temptation in our lives… What does that mean? We must concern ourselves with who is speaking, God or the enemy. And you know that God does not tempt. James 1 tells us he’s not the one who tempts us. It is the devil. So we can generally understand that when the devil comes to our mind, we can discern the spirit of discernment that is part of who we are when we’re born again. Understands that just doesn’t sound right. Do you have those times? That doesn’t sound right. I don’t think I’m going to cast that one down. I’m going to cast that thought down. Well, John tells us in 1 John 2, 16, that Satan will come to you with three opportunities to sin. Three of them. We’ve got to know them. The lust of the flesh, the desiring to experience the things that feel good. Oh, they feel good, so I want more. The lust of the eyes, those things that captivate us by what we see. Oh, that looks so good. It’s like food. When you see it on television, I’ve got to go out. I’ve got to call the delivery guys and have them deliver it to the door. I’ve got to go out and get a hot fudge sundae or whatever you want or a pizza. What we see is what we want. Oh, wow. And the pride of life. That pride of life comes in many forms. And even in the form of self-pity. When you feel badly about yourself, what are you focusing on? You’re focusing on yourself. And anything that self attaches itself to is pride, self-consciousness, self-pity, self-importance. That all has to do with self. We have to crucify that part of us when we come to know Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord. And that’s been a real journey for me. But I am seeing a light at the end of the tunnel. Praise the Lord. Here is how a spiritually dead person sees his life. All his life, he says and does what he wants. All his life, because he’s part of the kingdom of darkness. So all his life, he just does and says things he wants. And without God, he grows up and takes on the mantle of the public schools who have indoctrinated him and brainwashed him. We’ve had four generations of the public schools brainwashing our children. and the parents are basically oblivious to what’s going on in their child’s classroom i remember i used to go to the classroom when kimberly and dana were in public school and it was between our singing engagements and out-of-state trips and i would go and sit and even go to lunch with them and that was very permissible in the 70s i don’t know if it even is now i really don’t know they were trained by the world system And until someone told them about Jesus, they didn’t know about the love and the joy and the peace they could experience from God. Jesus said, the fields are white unto harvest, but the laborers are few. Even And selfishness can be seen among Christians focusing on their own lives. And I’m not putting them down because life is very challenging and very difficult at times. Focusing on their own lives and how to make a buck in the employment arena. Like I said yesterday, what is mostly coming out of their mouth is, and this is with the world system, what about me? What do I get out of this? See, we’re always talking about what I can get, what will benefit me. The enemy has so many schemes to keep us off track from the real issues at hand. And that real issue is saving the world for Jesus. In fact, the enemy tells us that if we follow Jesus, we will give up all the things we have grown to enjoy. See, that’s what the enemy says. Well, if you follow him, you’re not going to take advantage of anything in your life. I mean, you’re not going to be able to feel good. You’re not going to look good. You don’t do for yourself. You do for others. You’re just going to be a rug that people walk on. The devil is really sly and shrewd at what he does. And then he says, who wants to follow Jesus? Who wants to follow Jesus? Jesus was a simple man, a poor man, uneducated. He didn’t hold any worldly position or position or office. The world looks down on the creator of the universe. Yes, they do. They look at a believer as ignorant and stupid. They look at us as ignorant and stupid. That’s what the world does. If you listen even to CNN for a length of time, or I think it’s MSNBC or whatever those stations are, you will realize that they think that Anyone who’s conservative or a believer is ignorant. Now, God saw right through the evil behavior of the worldly people. In Isaiah 66, verse 1 through 5, and I’m reading from the message, God is saying here through Isaiah, Heaven’s my throne. Earth is my footstool. Can you imagine? God is saying, all of the heavens is my throne. And the earth, this big, huge planet that we live in and on, is my footstool what sort of house could you build for me what holiday spot reserves for me I made all this I own all this but there is something I’m looking for there is something someone I’m looking for says God in Isaiah 66 a person simple and plain humble and contrite in spirit this is totally opposite from what the world is seeking It really is reverently responsive to what I say, says God. And the world doesn’t want any of it, doesn’t. God has got to change the heart of that individual. You can’t do it. It’s Holy Spirit that you pray to that says, Father God, I thank you. You’re changing the heart of my loved one, my relative. In verse 3 of Isaiah 66 says, But to the worldly person who turns up his nose at God, God says, Your acts of worship are acts of sin. Your sacrificial slaughter of the ox is no different from murdering your neighbor. Your offerings for worship no different from dumping pigs’ blood on the altar. And that’s what they used to do. Pigs were unclean in the Old Testament. and the heathen nations would actually pour pig’s blood on the altar as an affront to what God’s people were doing. Your presentation of memorial gifts, no different from honoring a no-God idol. You choose self-serving worship. You delight in self-centered worship. Remember that word, self-centered. Pride, self-centered worship, it’s disgusting, says the Lord. Well, I choose to expose your nonsense and let you realize your worst fears, because when I invited you, you ignored me. When I spoke to you, you brushed me off. You did the very things I exposed as evil. You chose what I hate. But listen to what God has to say to you who reverently respond to his word. Your own families hate you and turn you out because of me. And that’s true. Some of you have experienced rejection from your family, have experienced them ignoring you. And I know of several that have let me know by your letters and your notes that your relatives will not have anything to do with you, especially after the pandemic started. But don’t get fearful and don’t get resentful. God is on the throne. He’s going to help you. They taunt you. Let us see God’s glory. If God’s so great, why aren’t you happy? But they’re the ones who are going to end up unhappy and miserable. See, the devil is the great deceiver and usually tempts with questions as he did with Eve. Did God tell you that you cannot eat of any tree in the garden? When he came to Jesus in Matthew 4, He questioned Jesus’ deity. If you are the son of God, tell these stones to become loaves of bread. But Jesus said, no, the scriptures say people do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God. And that’s a quote from Deuteronomy. Jesus knew who he was, and I hope that you know who you are in Christ Jesus, because that’s where you will stand strong when temptation comes. The enemy will want you to question your value and your authority. Don’t allow him to find a blind spot in you. Stand on the word of God. It will give you victory when you are asking questions about situations in your life. Oh, it’s so much better to praise God. Remember what Jesus said in Luke 10, verse 19. Behold, I’ve given you authority over all the power of the enemy and nothing shall harm you. Remember that, my friend. Jesus faced many evil spirits when he was on this earth, and he cast out those evil spirits from every one of them. He’s made it plain. And through the word of God and through the writings in the New Testament, in 1 John 4, 4, it’s greater is he who is in us than he who is in the world. And Jesus said in John 10, 10, the thief has come to steal from you, to kill you and to destroy you. But I’ve come to give you abundant life. I’ve found when the pressure is on, take immediate action. Lift up your hands and praise the Lord. Yes, praise the Lord. He will go to work for you if you don’t focus on the issue at hand, even though it seems impossible. God who created you has been victorious over many impossible situations. I hope you’re reading the Bible through with me and realizing what a great and mighty God you serve. Hallelujah. Yes, our God comes to the rescue when you praise him. Those chains that seem to bind you serve only to remind you that they drop powerless behind you when you praise him. Here are the Imperials.
SPEAKER 02 :
When you’re up against a struggle that shatters all your dreams And your hopes have been cruelly crushed by Satan’s manifested scheme And you feel the urge within you to submit to earthly fears Don’t let the faith you’re standing in seem to disappear
SPEAKER 03 :
Chains that seem to bind you serve only to remind you that they drop powerless behind you when you praise Him.
SPEAKER 02 :
Now Satan is a liar. And he wants to make us think that we are paupers. When he knows himself, we’re children of the King. So lift up the mighty shield of faith, for the battle must be won.
SPEAKER 03 :
We know that Jesus Christ is risen. Bye. Bye. Bye.
SPEAKER 01 :
Oh, praise God. I love that song. Thank you so much, Russ Taff and the Imperials. You know, when the chains seem to bind you, start raising your hands because they drop powerless behind you when you praise him. In fact, Psalm 22, verse 3 says, God inhabits your praises, not your self-pity, not your complaining. He inhabits your praises. And I remember when John was so desperately sick, and it was before I even started going out with him. And God gave him 24 more years. Praise the Lord. And his father prayed Psalm 34. This poor man cried and the Lord heard him and saved him from all of his troubles. That one verse delivered John Wells from a desperate situation in his body and in his soul when his father prayed for him. oh don’t neglect speaking the word and confessing that word over your loved ones don’t talk about the problem friend speak the word of encouragement so holy spirit can begin to work on those loved ones who are so stubborn and rebellious it will work it truly will work because when you praise god he inhabits those praises and goes to work for you Oh, God bless you. It’s been so good to being with you today. Tomorrow, Kimberly will be with me, the Lord willing, and she will have a wonderful teaching like she usually does. God bless you and keep you and take joy.
