SPEAKER 08 :
On this encore show, Darren and I talk about the dream thieves that discourage you from achieving your dreams in life. God has a divine plan for you and your assignment is greater than you ever imagined. The devil wants to get you distracted and on the wrong track to your destination. But Holy Spirit will teach you how to hear from God and do his will. There may be the death of your vision, but when you bring your offering of praise to God and breathe life into the dead vision, Holy Spirit will resurrect those dreams. If only you believe. Now, let’s join the program.
SPEAKER 06 :
Well, it’s a great big praise the Lord. I’m ready to go for a bar.
SPEAKER 07 :
Amen. That’s great.
SPEAKER 06 :
I’ll tell you, I’m feeling a good show today. And, you know, we have people that are underachievers by far. And there’s reasons for that, and those reasons can be changed to positive reasons for winning. Too many people are losing in the body of Christ, Barbara, and they’re very gifted. God’s given them talents, and somehow they buried the talents, and they’re… Just living straight line mundane lives.
SPEAKER 08 :
Or they’re off on a detour of some kind. Satan loves to put us on detours to get our minds off the focus that God has planned for us and to get us off on some inane, non-important thing. And just like I’ve heard before that everything we worry about, I think it’s like 90% of what we worry about never comes to pass. So Satan loves to put those thoughts in our minds to get us off track of what God is wanting us to do.
SPEAKER 06 :
He can get us distracted. Did I say that right?
SPEAKER 08 :
Yeah, or detract.
SPEAKER 06 :
Distracted. He can get us derailed.
SPEAKER 08 :
Derailed.
SPEAKER 06 :
And get us stuck in a pothole someplace on a detour.
SPEAKER 08 :
That’s right. Oh, he loves that.
SPEAKER 06 :
He sure does. Satan loves that. And he just keeps piling it on. And then when he gets us to make a bad choice, then he deceives us into believing that we started it. It was our fault. It was our idea all along.
SPEAKER 08 :
And then covers us with guilt.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 08 :
I mean, it goes on and on and on and on. But Jesus has promised us abundant life. And that’s why we’re here, Darren. And that’s why we’re on the radio every day for you, because we want you to know that Jesus came to give you abundant life. And if you’re living anything but an abundant life, and I’m talking about that has to come in the spirit first, friends. And it has to be in the spirit that you get this abundant life. And then it’s going to be manifested in the physical. And we really believe that God not only ordained us to be people of the Most High God, blessed in the spirit, but also blessed in the physical. A lot of the prophets, Darren, that we see in the Old Testament were mightily blessed physically. They were rich. They were prosperous. And I believe that that’s for us today, prosperity for us today.
SPEAKER 06 :
You know, I know we’re speaking to some people that are stuck. And they know they’re stuck. And they don’t know how to get out of it on their own. They’ve tried. You have to really give them credit for trying. But just trying is not enough. They’re still doing the loop or they’re still sitting in a ditch or whatever. And I’m telling our listeners today, if you need some help getting unstuck or getting the thing off dead center, whatever term you want to use, the number here is air code 303-455-0777. You don’t have to be in that mess one more day.
SPEAKER 08 :
That’s right. And the thing that we have to choose to do is to pray. We have to ask God first, God, I’m stuck. I don’t like it here. I want you to help me change this. When we begin praying in that kind of a vein, then he’s going to go to work for us. I know even in my own life, Darren, in this ministry of Darren in Denver for about two and a half years, I’ve been doing everything basically myself and manually. And finally, last December, I said, Father God, I want to be able to be free to write, to be able to be free to learn more about you and this word that you’ve given to us. I don’t want to be behind this computer doing all this. And the Lord brought a wonderful friend. who has the knowledge of the computer that we will never obtain. Are you talking about Dave? Yes, and also he must have convicted you a little bit because you took over all the cassette labels, and you are doing a marvelous job, if I have to say so myself. So that’s freed me up to do a lot of things on my own. And I know, you know, as our ministries start small and God has told us, you know, little by little is how something is going to be successful. We know we’re going to have to do a lot on our own, but slowly but surely we’re going to gain more people to come and help us with the ministry. So that’s a blessed thought for me. But we appreciate so much your prayer support and your giving. Without your giving, Darren and I would not have a computer.
SPEAKER 01 :
And your prayers.
SPEAKER 08 :
And your prayers. We would not have printers.
SPEAKER 01 :
And your love.
SPEAKER 08 :
And we would not have the things that are basic needs of a ministry in this day and age.
SPEAKER 06 :
Well, you know, you can have a fabulous message, and I believe we do. It’s right out of the Word of God. It’s practical. It works. But if you can’t package it right, and part of our packaging, obviously, is radio. That’s kind of a backbone for us here. But backing up the radio is a lot of things we have to do through the mail, a lot of things we write and we package. And printed materials and in audio tapes and then our meetings on tuesday nights we have we’ve had those every every tuesday night now for two and a half years and we see people really changing but you folks that pray and you power partners that stand by us with powerful prayers and finances and your notes of encouragement you’re undergirding that’s what makes this thing work that’s right And I want to say also, you know, I pick on Dave a little bit because he’s not here to defend himself. But God sent Dave into our lives to really help us with the computer. And he’s done some wonderful things for us. And by the way, if you’ll notice, we sent out your receipts this time in a little different format. And you’ll be getting them that way each month. And if somehow in the computer the amount is wrong or we receipted you in the wrong ways, please let us know.
SPEAKER 08 :
Now, during this transition, we’re blaming the computer, right?
SPEAKER 06 :
I don’t know how long that excuse will last, but for now, we’re using that excuse, okay? But it is a little difficult to change systems than we have, and it’s reducing our time. And we have to maximize our time so that we can spend more time in the Word, more time face-to-face with Jesus and not a glass-eyed computer screen.
SPEAKER 08 :
Yes, oh. And that’s what I love doing, Darren. And we want you who are listening to be so strong that when Satan comes to you with temptations, when he comes to you with accusations, you can just stand up to him. And we want you to know Jesus so very much that he’s your best friend.
SPEAKER 06 :
You know, Barb, that’s how the devil rips us off. These are the dream thieves that come to get us.
SPEAKER 08 :
That’s right. They rob you of your dreams.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yes, guilt and condemnation. That’s right. or through habitual sins. And those are things we’re going to talk about more and more. And I just believe God is calling us to do that. I know I talked about it on the early show, and I guess we refer this to the late show. 1030 in the morning is kind of late, isn’t it, compared to 530? And I’m still believing for the eighth wonder of the world, and that’s to get Barb on that early time. Won’t that be the eighth wonder of the world? I enjoy picking on you, Barbara.
SPEAKER 07 :
Too much.
SPEAKER 06 :
Too much. Anyhow.
SPEAKER 08 :
I would like to. I was thinking about how we can stand strong in our faith and our belief. And I was reading in Matthew here. Did you want to say anything else about that?
SPEAKER 06 :
I guess not. You have that anointing dinner. No. Yes, I do. Many of you have abandoned your potential for the path of least resistance.
SPEAKER 08 :
That’s right.
SPEAKER 06 :
We’ve all done that in some area of our lives. And, you know, I believe when we get to the end of the string, however long that string is, for some it’s going to be a short number of years. For some it’s going to be a long number of years. In fact, I heard on the radio today that a man in a department store wanted a job so much. And they were talking about two years previously he lied about his age. And he got the job, and he became an outstanding salesman. And when he finally revealed the truth, he said, I’m really not 66. I think that story went, I’m 94. But some of you have abandoned your potential for taking the path of least resistance. That’s right. You know, once you know that, once God puts that on you, then it’s a sin to continue lazing along and not stepping up to the plate, so to speak, and allowing God to maximize that potential he put within you.
SPEAKER 08 :
Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER 06 :
Don’t let that dream thief steal any more from you.
SPEAKER 08 :
That’s right. We read in Psalm 90, as for the days of our life, they contain 70 years. And if due to strength, 80 years. And yet their pride is but labor and sorrow, for soon it is gone and we fly away. And I’m looking toward that day. But I was thinking the other day about being with the Lord Jesus. And the Holy Spirit said something really profound to me. He said, Barbara, if you’re going to Hawaii on a vacation, or Darren and you are going to Europe, which I’ve never done, but someday hopefully, and it’s so important to dream. And you’ve taught me that, Darren. Don’t ever give up a dream. If you have a dream to go somewhere or do something, don’t give it up. But the Holy Spirit came to me the other day and he said, now if you’re going to go on a vacation, are you excited? And I said, yeah, I’m really excited. And he says, it’s the same way we should be towards heaven. talking about heaven, being involved with thinking about going to be with our Lord Jesus. We should be so excited about that. And most of us, Darren, even Christians, are fearful about that last day here on earth. And we should be so excited. It’s like going on a vacation. Praise the Lord. Well, I believe that.
SPEAKER 06 :
And you know, it’s a real sin, Barbara, once you know what God is speaking. And I think what he’s speaking here today. Once you have a refusal to discipline your thought life, Because God’s trying to give you a better career. You know, once you refuse to renew your mind, that’s sin. Once God’s saying, look, you don’t have to stay where you are. Renew your mind. Start thinking more positively. Start having a vision. And it says without a vision, people perish. So if we’re speaking right to you on the page where you’re on today. It’s area code 303-455-0777. Now, let me be real specific. Some of you are not in the job you need to be in. Some of you are making $20,000 a year, and you should be making $50,000. But you’ve gotten lazy. And see, God wants you to step up to a new level. And He has really provided that for you if you just simply renew your mind. And we’d like to help you do that. Do you have another scripture there?
SPEAKER 08 :
I was just thinking of James 4.17, to one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, it is sin. I wanted to talk in Matthew 15 about the Syrophoenician woman and I believe this is so important because we need to know who we are in Christ and sometimes God is going to come to you right there in your home, right there in your car and he is going to put you on a test and I think it is absolutely okay for the Lord to test us. I mean, it’s like we’re in school, and a teacher, I remember coming to school in the mornings, and she says, Okay, put your books away. Get out a pen. We’re going to have a pop quiz. Whoa! I mean, everybody just sat to attention. I mean, oh, no, we didn’t study. All kinds of excuses. But we took the pop quiz, and the teacher wanted to know what we knew. And I think that’s okay for the Lord to test us and get to know what we know. And here Jesus went away from talking to his disciples and the Pharisees and withdrew into the district of Tyre and Sidon. And this was not Jewish territory. This was Gentile territory. And we’re in Matthew 15, 21. And behold, a Canaanite woman, she was not a Jew, came out from that region and began to cry out, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David. My daughter is cruelly demon-possessed. Now we’d give them drugs and we’d send them to a mental hospital, but this woman knew that Satan had control of her daughter. And he did not answer her a word. This is the part that’s so profound to me. Some of you say, well, I didn’t hear God. And you turn away from him resentful and bitter because he didn’t answer you. Here, Jesus didn’t answer her. That didn’t stop her, man. That didn’t stop her from wanting her dream fulfilled and the healing of her daughter.
SPEAKER 06 :
That’s right on.
SPEAKER 08 :
Do you have a call?
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, we’ve got a long-distance call from Mary. How are you doing, Mary?
SPEAKER 03 :
I’m pretty good, thank you.
SPEAKER 06 :
And where are you calling from today?
SPEAKER 03 :
Out in the northeastern Colorado.
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay, glad to hear from you.
SPEAKER 03 :
Thank you. Just had a couple of things that I’d like you to go over again sometime as you feel led. And one was, I only got a portion of this, but it helped me enormously, and I’d like to have it expanded. And that was when you talked about Abraham chasing the fowls of the air away from the sacrifice. Oh, yes. That was just neat. And then there was another thing, and we’re on a ranch, and we I just hear these things partially here and there. Another was on gossip, and you talked about casting it down and in a little different manner, and I was wondering about that as well.
SPEAKER 08 :
Okay. We’ve had several comments.
SPEAKER 03 :
You can talk about this. Okay.
SPEAKER 06 :
Mary, hang on. We’ll get your address and we’ll send you some good stuff.
SPEAKER 03 :
Do you get a newsletter from us? No, we don’t. I also need a couple of tapes and a power pack.
SPEAKER 08 :
Oh, sure. We’ll leave your name and address and we’d be happy to send a power pack. And we’ll send you a tape list and then you can order tapes from there. All right. All right. God bless you.
SPEAKER 06 :
Hang on, Mary. Good to hear from you. Thanks. Okay.
SPEAKER 08 :
Yeah. We’ve had several comments about gossip, so I think that’s really good.
SPEAKER 06 :
Well, first of all, let’s talk about the fowls of the air that we’re trying to take the sacrifice.
SPEAKER 08 :
And we find that in Genesis 15. And, um, this is, this is when Abram, Abraham was still Abram and God had given him a vision in the first part of 15. Do not fear Abram. And isn’t that wonderful about God, Darren? He always says, don’t fear. Fear comes from the enemy. Fear comes from Satan. God has not given us a spirit of fear and it is a spirit, but he’s given us power, love and a sound mind. I am a shield to you. Your reward shall be great. And Abraham’s talking about… He got this vision from the Lord, Darren, about an heir. And he’s confused. He says, well, my servant has a son. And God’s saying, no, it’s not going to be your servant’s son that’s going to be your heir. It’s going to be from your own flesh. And in verse 6, where we’re going to start, it says, He believed in the Lord, and he reckoned it to him as righteousness. That word, believed… That is such a great, strong word, and it means possessor of, having it. He had it. He possessed it. And E.W. Kenyon alludes to that in his book on faith, Three Kinds of Faith. It’s a marvelous little booklet by E.W. Kenyon. And if you want to know more about that word believe and about the word faith, it’s so important. But did you have something?
SPEAKER 06 :
Well, no, I just, in verse 11, And the birds of prey came down upon the carcass, and Abraham drove them away. Now, what did you want? I just wanted to get up to that. Oh, you wanted it. Okay, I was ready to jump down to that.
SPEAKER 07 :
That’s the choleric in you. Yes, you have to just jump. We have to give some introduction here. No? Okay. Go ahead.
SPEAKER 08 :
Okay, and he brought him. He said to him, I am the Lord who brought you out of Ur of the Chaldees to give you this land to possess it. Now, see, this word possess is in the same place vain as believed. And we have to believe that God’s going to let us possess something. And we are here on this earth to be possessors of God’s promises. That’s why we’re here. And he said, O Lord God, how may I know that I shall possess it? And the Lord said to him, Bring me a three-year-old heifer, a three-year-old female goat, a three-year-old ram, a turtle dove, and a young pigeon. Now just think, if Jesus hadn’t come, Darren, what we would have to bring to God every time we want a sacrifice.
SPEAKER 06 :
We’re really in what we’re talking about, too, and that’s possessing your vision. You know, don’t let the birds of the sky get your vision.
SPEAKER 08 :
That’s right.
SPEAKER 06 :
Hang on to it.
SPEAKER 08 :
That’s right.
SPEAKER 06 :
And don’t let Satan discourage you in your sacrifice to the Lord.
SPEAKER 08 :
So here we see him bringing an offering to the Lord. is the very simple faith in Jesus who was the offering. And whenever the Lord says, bring me an offering, we can say, Father God, your offering is your son Jesus, and I bring Jesus to you. And Jesus has made a way. He has cut through that veil for me, and I can come to you, Father, boldly. and I don’t have to bring any more of these sacrifices. Hallelujah. Then he brought all these to the Lord and cut them in two and laid each half opposite the other, but he did not cut the birds. And the birds of prey came down upon the carcasses, and Abram drove them away. This wasn’t Abraham yet. This was Abram. And you have a profound story about Abram and Abraham, and I love that. We just picked up on that this year.
SPEAKER 06 :
Well, very briefly, when we look at Ishmael, is not referred to in Scripture as Abraham’s firstborn because he wasn’t.
SPEAKER 08 :
That’s right. He wasn’t Abraham’s.
SPEAKER 06 :
He wasn’t Abraham’s son. He was Abram’s son. And that just hit me with such force. In fact, we were right in the middle of a teaching. I thought, oh, Lord, what a great revelation. And some of you need to have a new name and a new vision. I mean, when you change names, you change identities. And God really did that for Abram to Abraham. Abram was the father of Ishmael. Abraham was the father of… Of Isaac. And he is referred to as his firstborn and also referred to as his only son.
SPEAKER 08 :
That’s right.
SPEAKER 06 :
Very interesting. That’s right. Talking really there and talking about Jesus.
SPEAKER 08 :
It says here, the birds came down upon the carcass. This word carcass, Darren, does not relate to a natural death. This is an unexplained or a horrible kind of a death. And some of us have gone through terrible spiritual deaths. And this is just, I believe it’s an analogy, I believe it’s an example of how our dreams die. And Satan comes along to take our dreams, to take everything we have, to take our hopes. And Abram here drove them away. He was so solid in his belief that God was going to do for him what he said he was going to do. He drove away those birds. And birds here allude to Satan. They allude to the evil one coming to take away.
SPEAKER 06 :
The evil spirits.
SPEAKER 08 :
That’s right, to take it away.
SPEAKER 06 :
You know, sometimes there has to be the death of a vision before it can be resurrected appropriately.
SPEAKER 08 :
I believe all of us have to go through a death of a vision before it’s raised up.
SPEAKER 06 :
I would also like to say this, that some of you have a dead marriage. And God can resurrect that dead marriage. And sometimes that’s exactly what has to happen. The old one’s a mess.
SPEAKER 04 :
Oh, that’s right.
SPEAKER 06 :
And it has to die. And then have the breath of life breathed into that new marriage.
SPEAKER 04 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 06 :
And a whole new concept. You can read about that in Ezekiel chapter 37. In fact, we have a marvelous tape message. entitled, Breathing Life, where God says, actually, speak to the spirits and say, oh, breath, come. Speak to the spirit of God and say, oh, breath, come and breathe on these slain. Some people’s marriages, some people’s businesses, some people’s dream has died and they need to resurrect that with the very breath of God.
SPEAKER 07 :
That’s right.
SPEAKER 06 :
Before we go to gossip, Barb, I think we need to talk here to line two. I’m still in Genesis. You’re still on that? Okay. Well, let me take this. He’s been holding well.
SPEAKER 08 :
We’re going to do gossip some other day.
SPEAKER 06 :
Logan on line two. How are you?
SPEAKER 02 :
I’m doing pretty good. How are you doing? Good. Good. Um, I’m just real excited about what you’re teaching.
SPEAKER 04 :
Good.
SPEAKER 02 :
Trying to align what’s running in my life right now. I think you might know what I’m talking about.
SPEAKER 04 :
Right.
SPEAKER 02 :
Um, I just, um, I have a vision. I, I, I, I, um, yet, you know, I have opportunity. I, I really have a hard time deciding what the Lord really has for me.
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay, I think you need to pray, Logan, in response to your letter. I think you need to pray and discriminate what’s a good idea and what’s a vision. I think you got those two mixed up. Yeah. See, you can have a good idea, but not necessarily a God idea. And all of us have made that mistake at one time or another. So before you jump, I think you really need to get confirmation from the Lord that you’re on the right track.
SPEAKER 02 :
I understand. Okay.
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay. Good. How’s it going for job possibilities there in Longmont?
SPEAKER 02 :
Well, I have an opportunity this afternoon at 2 o’clock at Albertsons. I have an interview.
SPEAKER 06 :
Good. Wonderful.
SPEAKER 02 :
And I’m looking forward to that. I’m getting ready for that right after this call. Super.
SPEAKER 06 :
Super. Well, you alluded in one of your communications with us that you thought you ought to get up and leave town. I think you ought to solve your problems there, because if you don’t solve them there, you won’t solve them down the road.
SPEAKER 02 :
That’s probably true.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, and all of us are tempted to do that. You know, when the heat’s on, you say, oh, I’m getting out of town. I’m going someplace else. But you know, if you don’t solve it where you are, it’ll follow you.
SPEAKER 02 :
Yes, I understand.
SPEAKER 06 :
Right, good. Well, hey, we’re going to see you tonight.
SPEAKER 02 :
Yes, I’ll be there, but I’m going to try to bring up my neighbor.
SPEAKER 06 :
Good. Wonderful. Well, we’ll look forward to it.
SPEAKER 02 :
Okay, well, thank you. You bet. God bless you. God bless you.
SPEAKER 06 :
Let’s talk to Joe on line one.
SPEAKER 05 :
Yes, good morning. How are you both? Wonderful. Good morning. Wow, that’s good. I just had a quick question. It’s nothing to really do with marriage, of course, in this situation, but what I’ve got is basically I’m disabled, and… The only person I had in my life was my mother, whom I dearly loved. And I lost her last April in a sudden death. She died at home in bed. And the Lord took her when she was very beautiful. She looked maybe 35 or 40, and she was just turned 61. I’m not exaggerating. And at any rate, I had always thought prior to my mother’s death that if I lost my mother, I would either take my own life or I would die of a broken heart. And I thought, at the very least, I would be mad at God. I was saved some time ago. I believe my mother was saved, although she didn’t hold a faith as I believe I did. Now, the second thing, there’s been so many ironies around this. For instance, she said, you know, since I’m on disability, come live with me at my home, her home, in other words, and save some money for rent and everything. And that was on the 4th of April. And I finished moving in on the 5th of April. And later on that night, she died.
SPEAKER 06 :
That was rather sudden, wasn’t it?
SPEAKER 05 :
Yes, sir. I personally believe that the Lord wanted me to be there so that she wouldn’t die, at least in the corporal sense alone.
SPEAKER 06 :
She wouldn’t die by herself.
SPEAKER 05 :
Right.
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 05 :
And… Anyway, it’s been hard to handle it. I don’t know if I’m in denial or not. But it drove me to God.
SPEAKER 06 :
But let me say this, Joe. I think that you might pray and ask God if your mother was an idol in your life.
SPEAKER 05 :
That’s interesting.
SPEAKER 06 :
I’ll tell you why.
SPEAKER 05 :
Very well could have been.
SPEAKER 06 :
See, God doesn’t want us to have any idols, even family members, between ourselves and Him. That’s right. Because He really comes down on an idolatry heart.
SPEAKER 05 :
Well, I understand that. I never thought of it at that angle, of course, that way.
SPEAKER 06 :
But you see, in terms of your recovery from grief, that might be part of the picture you have to deal with.
SPEAKER 05 :
Well, what you’re saying makes some sense in the fact that I could never understand… I know to love God and to love Jesus and the entire Holy Trinity, but… I was wondering, how can I put my love of Jesus or God ahead of my mother?
SPEAKER 06 :
Well, it’s a choice you have to make.
SPEAKER 05 :
Well, I wasn’t able to do it when she was alive.
SPEAKER 06 :
Right, okay. But I think what you need to do, first of all, if it is idolatry and that makes sense to you, and I mean if it’s confirmed.
SPEAKER 05 :
Does it sound like it is to you?
SPEAKER 08 :
Well, you didn’t know about her fellowship with Jesus. In fact, you said yours was stronger than hers.
SPEAKER 05 :
Relatively speaking.
SPEAKER 08 :
That’s right. Well, I would contend that that’s probably idolatry because if your mom was a godly woman and spoke the word every day to you, you would have been a student of hers, in fact. But you weren’t because, you know, light cannot mix with darkness. You said you were strong in the word and you didn’t really know about her idolatry. So I contend that this probably was your worshiping your mom rather than being a student of learning from her because how can light learn from darkness? You know what I’m saying? I understand. How can you who are in the Lord learn from someone who may not be in the Lord?
SPEAKER 05 :
Well, I’m almost certain because I… I didn’t twist her arm, but I asked, you know, basically wanted to know what her thoughts were, her beliefs were years prior to her death. And she said that she believed in God and she prayed. So I knew, I didn’t know she said the words that are necessary to be said in order to judge Jesus as the Savior.
SPEAKER 06 :
Well, we just have a minute here, Joe, so let me say this. If you want to call back tomorrow, you’re welcome. Here’s what I would encourage you to do. Ask God to validate, to confirm in your heart if there was idolatry there with your mom. And there is a lot of people’s lives. And if there was, you need to ask God’s forgiveness.
SPEAKER 05 :
How will I know?
SPEAKER 06 :
He’ll confirm that to you.
SPEAKER 08 :
He will. He’ll tell you.
SPEAKER 06 :
He’s faithful.
SPEAKER 08 :
You’ll know in your heart.
SPEAKER 06 :
