And last week I shared with you message number one in this series, and it was very important, very foundational. You will see this series called The Kingdom of God. And I encourage you to listen to it again and share it with your friends and family. Now join me in our live service for the continuation of message two in this series called The Gospel of the Kingdom. How does the Kingdom of Great Britain function? How do they operate and do things? They’re rules and methods of operation. You also study the language, what language, their currency. What is their currency? If we want to learn everything about them, we also learn about their culture. Their culture, their ways. You know, “Hi, T.” I learned to like T in India. And when I was in the Pacific Islands with the Fijians, they were, had been under British rule. And they still practice T-time. So you learn their culture, their customs, their ways. Very important. But if you’re going to go live there, you also need to learn their laws, or else you are easily a lawbreaker and getting trouble. So learn their laws so you don’t break any law. I mean, their traffic laws are going to have some traffic laws different than our traffic laws. You go there and learn what their laws are, so you don’t get a ticket. So all of this is learning about that government and the system and the culture and the laws and the way they operate. So if we’re going to compare the kingdom of God, I started this study with saying, “How does God do what He does?” Meaning, how did He create light? How did He part the red sea? How did Jesus walk on water? How did Jesus heal the sick and raise the dead? Now there are a lot of Christians that I’ve heard preachers preach that Jesus walked on water because He’s the Son of God as if He’s an special class and don’t you think you can do it? He operated by spiritual laws. And He said in John 14, 12, “Those who believe in me will do what I’ve been doing in greater things than these will they do.” He said, “You can do what I do. I’m healing the sick, raising the dead.” And then He sent out His 12 disciples and then He sent out the 72 disciples. You go out and preach and heal the sick and raise the dead. You do what I’ve been doing. Why? Because I’m using spiritual laws and I’m teaching you the spiritual laws now go do it. So studying the kingdom of God boils down to learning God’s ways and the spiritual laws. And I’m not talking laws, meaning just the 10 commandments that shall not kill. I’m talking about spiritual laws being laws of operation, how He does things, how He uses His authority, how He uses His faith, how He speaks to things, how He does things. Now watch Him and imitate Him and do the same thing. Now we’re going to get to that, I’m going to jump in the way ahead, we’re going to go into that study to learn those things. And that’s what everything I teach is all about these spiritual laws. We’ve got to learn them. But the foundation comes down to this introduction of the kingdom of God. And the Lord showed me that this understanding of the kingdom of God is actually like it’s the platform foundation for everything else that you will ever learn in the Bible. All the things you learn, and even the things I was teaching, I taught for years in the Bible schools, teaching on faith, and righteousness, and authority, and the Lord showed me, those are all pillars that are to be built on the understanding of the foundation of the kingdom of God, but without the foundation of the kingdom of God, you will not fully understand those pillars because something will always be missing. The missing part is the foundation. The kingdom of God is the foundation for all these other things you learn about, you learn about faith, you learn about words, you learn about authority, you learn about righteousness, you learn about trust, you learn about love, you learn about patience, you learn about… those are all pillars, but they have to be grounded on a foundation. And the foundation is understanding this is the way the kingdom of God operates. And when you understand the kingdom of God operates as a system of laws, then you can then put each of these truths and laws into their perspective in their place, and then you get greater results than you did before. And so we have to see that. And then I showed you that Jesus came to preach the kingdom of God on earth. And I showed you really what I would call his mission statement, was in Luke 4:43. Jesus said, “I must preach the gospel of the kingdom of God to the other towns also, because that is why I was sent.” Now, his purpose, actually for coming to earth, was twofold. And it’s divided between his three or three and a half years of ministry, one part, and his death and suffering as the other part. If his only purpose for coming to earth, which I’ve heard so many times, Jesus came to earth to die to be the Lamb of God, the Savior of the world to bear our sins, he did. But if that was the only reason he came, then why did he have three and a half years of ministry? Why not just grow up and go to the cross directly? So there was a twofold purpose. One was for his death, but the other was for those three or three and a half years of the ministry time he did. And the purpose of his death was to bear the sin of the world, to be the Lamb of God’s slain for the world, to take our sins upon himself. But he didn’t just go directly to the cross. He spent three and I say three or three and a half, depending on different scholars, say different things. The years of his ministry time, teaching. What was the purpose for that? He said here, “I must preach the gospel of the kingdom of God to other towns also, because that is why I was sent.” He came to earth to colonize earth. God’s kingdom was ruling eternity past in heaven, but only in heaven. God created the earth and put man on the earth. And it was man’s original assignment to also expand the kingdom of God on earth. That was Adam’s assignment in Genesis 126 and 28. God said, “Let us make man in our image and our likeness and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, the livestock over all the earth and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” But to rule over all the earth. Verse 28, “God bless them and said to them, be fruitful, increase in number, fill the earth and subdue it or rule over it. But you’re under my rule. Now I want you to fill all the earth and you rule over it under me.” So it was really Adam’s great commission to establish the kingdom of God on earth. And he failed. Because he then turned trader and turned over the earth to the devil and Satan became God of this world and became ruler of the earth. So now it’s not God’s kingdom on earth anymore. It Satan’s rule on earth. And then a redeemer had to come to die for this sin and also to defeat Satan in hell, to strip Satan. This says in Colossians 2.15, “To strip him and make a public spectacle of him and to take the keys of death hell in the grave and to take back the authority over the earth.” Jesus did that when he went to hell. And then he rose from the dead. And he says, “The keys to the kingdom I give to you.” And he says, “All authority in heaven on earth is given to me. Now you go in all the earth.” And so the great commission of the church, going into all the world, and preach the gospel, which I’ll get back to in a minute, is actually the great commission given to Adam. But it was to establish the kingdom of God, God’s rule and authority in the whole earth. And that is the great commission for us today. God’s rule and authority in the whole earth. But let’s look again at this word gospel. And the word gospel means good news. But when we talk about the gospel today and churches that talk about we preach the gospel evangelist especially, they say, “I’m called to preach the gospel.” What are they preaching? They’re preaching the cross. They’re preaching the death and resurrection of Jesus. And they’re preaching, “Be born again and the new birth.” That’s what they call the gospel. And that’s what pretty much the whole church world understands. When you say the gospel, that’s it. But guess what? Jesus never called that the gospel. He didn’t say, “I’m going to go into all the world and preach the new birth and preach you can be born again.” Let me show you. Matthew 4.23, “Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of what? The kingdom.” And healing every disease and sickness among the people. Matthew 9.35, again, Matthew. Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of what? The kingdom. And healing every disease and sickness. Mark 1, 14, and 15. Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of what? The kingdom of God. Jesus called in what we call the four gospel, Matthew, and Luke, and John. They say, “The gospel message is the kingdom of God.” The gospel message is the kingdom of God. The new birth, salvation by Jesus dying on the cross for our sins, is the doorway to enter into the kingdom or it is the way to be born into the kingdom and be a citizen of the kingdom. The new birth is the doorway. Salvation is the doorway. And a lot of Christians, they hear the gospel message quote of the cross and salvation and new birth. They get saved so they step through the door and they are in the kingdom of God. Most of the church world though thinks that the kingdom of God is still in heaven and that they will get the kingdom of God when they die on earth and leave earth and go to heaven. They don’t know that as soon as they were born again they entered the kingdom of God. And Jesus came to bring the kingdom of God here to earth.
