In today’s episode of International Gospel Hour, we delve into a profound exploration of Jesus Christ’s life and mission as foretold and fulfilled by Holy Scriptures. From His miraculous birth to His mission, His works of healing, His trials, and eventual crucifixion, Jesus lived a life that was meticulously prophesied in the sacred texts. The journey is narrated through various biblical references shedding light on the true nature of Scripture’s power in guiding us toward a deeper understanding of God’s will.

Now, I want to share something with you. Some of our friends from Parkersburg, West Virginia, DJ and Sarah Curry have an awesome website called AddedToTheChurch.com. That’s AddedToTheChurch.com. AddedToTheChurch is one word, .com. You can subscribe to free digital publications. They have two to offer, the Mountain Messenger and the New Testament Expositor. So check them out at addedtothechurch.com. Once again, that’s addedtothechurch.com. Now our study begins with 1 Corinthians 15 verses 1 through 4. There is a phrase we want to note from this context. Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also you have received, and wherein ye stand, by which also you are saved, if you keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless you have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you, first of all, that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures. Our phrase today, according to the scriptures. And we want to look at some things that simply are according to the scriptures to help us embrace the appreciation and love for the word of God. Before we do that, I have a very special online video study just for you. Our J-Web will give you the details of how you can receive that information.

SPEAKER 01 :
Let’s talk about the birth of Jesus, because it’s according to the Scriptures. In Matthew 1, 21-23, And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus, for he shall save his people from their sins. Now all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of by the Lord, or of the Lord by the prophets, saying, Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel, which being interpreted is God with us. Let’s take the life of Christ, His mission and His message. It’s according to the Scripture. in Luke 4, 16-21, and he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up for to read. And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written, The Spirit of the Lord is come upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor. He hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, to preach the acceptable year of the Lord. And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them were in the synagogue, were fastened on him, and he began to say unto them, This day is the scripture fulfilled in your ears. Let’s look at His work according to the Scriptures. In Matthew 8, 16 and 17, when evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word and healed all who were sick. that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying, He himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses. In Matthew 12, verses 16 through 21, And he charged them that they should not make him known, that it might be fulfilled. Fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying, Behold my servant whom I have chosen, my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased. I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall show judgment to the Gentiles. He shall not strive nor cry, neither shall any man hear his voice in the streets. A bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench, till he send forth judgment unto victory. And in his name shall the Gentiles trust. Now let’s come to the end of Jesus’ life, His betrayal, His trial, and His crucifixion, according to the Scriptures. In Matthew 26, verses 50-54, But Jesus said to him, Friend, why have you come? Then they came and laid hands on Jesus and took Him. And suddenly one of those who were with Jesus stretched out his hand and drew his sword, struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear. But Jesus said to him, Put your sword in its place, for all who take the sword will perish by the sword. Or do you think that I cannot now pray to my Father, and He will provide me with more than twelve legions of angels? How then could the Scriptures be fulfilled, that it must happen thus? In Mark 15, verses 25-28, Now it was the third hour, and they crucified Him, and the inscription of His accusation was written above, The King of the Jews.” With him they also crucified two robbers, one on the right and the other on his left. So the scripture was fulfilled, which says, And he was numbered with the transgressors. Friends, we began with his birth, and we saw through the prophecies of old. With his birth, his mission, his message, his work, even up until his death, Everything that Jesus did was according to the Scriptures. I take us now to Luke 24 and verse 27. And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them and all the Scriptures the things concerning himself. And then in Luke 24, 44-47, He said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the law of Moses and in the prophets and in the Psalms concerning me. Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the Scriptures, and said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behooved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day, and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. And friends, that’s exactly what happened. On the day of Pentecost in Acts 2, they preached repentance and remission of sins in the name of Christ. Remember in Acts 2.37, they heard the preaching and they were pricked in their hearts. They were stricken and said, Men and brethren, what shall we do? And that’s when Jesus, or rather Peter said unto them, Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ, for the remission of your sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. And that’s what they did. You see, friends, the scriptures are vitally important. They are the only authoritative tool that tells us God’s will for our lives. We need nothing else. You see, man will err according to the Scripture. I mean, when he doesn’t know, he’s going to err. For in Matthew 22, 29, Jesus answered and said unto them, You do err not knowing the Scriptures nor the power of God. And in John 5.39 when he said, Search the scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life, and they are they which testify of me. And 2 Timothy 3.15, And that from a child you have known the holy scriptures, which are able to make you wise unto salvation through faith, which is in Christ Jesus. We can take the scripture and we can rightly divide the word of truth. We can understand God’s will for our lives. 2 Timothy 2.15 Dear friends, let’s walk according to the Scriptures. We have a free publication available to you through our friends at apologeticspress.org. Here is our J-Web with those details, and I’ll be back to wrap up our broadcast.

Yes, friends, we desire to share the very best study material with you, but we will not put that study material over and above the Scriptures. We must be like those in Berea who are more noble or fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, according to Acts 17, 10 and 11, to receive the word with readiness of mind and to search the Scriptures daily whether those things are so. We’d love for you to search the Scriptures on anything that we bring forth here from International Gospel Hour as we strive to walk according to the Scriptures. Again, we’d love to hear from you at 855-444-6988 Let us know where you’re hearing our broadcast. We’ll also share with you the link to the Does It Matter study, as well as your free publication of Reason and Revelation, and check out our friends at AddedToTheChurch.com. We’ll continue our studies together at another time. Thank you for joining me today on the International Gospel Hour. I’m Jeff Archie, and friends, keep listening.
