We are glad you could join us today for the Concepts of Faith broadcast. This program is dedicated to teach you how to put the Word of God to work so that it will make a positive difference in the everyday circumstances of your life. And now, here’s Charles Capps.
SPEAKER 01 :
Now go with me over to 1 Corinthians, the first chapter. Let’s notice that the Apostle Paul tapped into this principle of the Bible. We’re talking about calling things that are not as though they were. Now let’s read from verse 27 and 28. Paul is saying, but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise. God has chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty. And base things of the world and things which are despised hath God chosen. Now notice, God chosen, yea, and things which are not to bring to naught things that are. Now allow me to add one word into this, and it’ll help you tremendously in understanding this passage of Scripture. God chose things that are not manifest, spiritual forces that are not manifest, to bring to naught things that are manifest in your physical affairs, in your business affairs, in your situations of your life. He chose spiritual, eternal things that are not manifest. He chose that method to bring to naught things that are manifest. Right? Now that may be a little vague to you right at this point. But if you just stay with me before this session’s over, you’ll see it clearly. Because God’s Word is powerful. It is a motivating force. It’s the most powerful motivating force in the universe because it’s filled with the divine energy of God. Now when he says, call things that are not as though they were, that’s exactly what he’s talking about. Is to call things that are not. Why in the world would you want to call something that’s already there? Now see, that’s why I say it’ll help you if you say it this way. Call things that are not manifest as though they were manifest until they are manifest. Now this is God’s method. You notice it didn’t say that Brother Copeland chose this method. Or Brother Capps chose this method. Well, we all did after God chose it, but we didn’t choose it first. This is God’s method. Now, if you want to get something from God, start using His methods. Now, this may sound very elementary, but you know, if you don’t like what you have now, then check up on what you’ve been doing in the days past. Because if you keep on doing what you’ve been doing, you’re going to keep on having what you’ve been having. And God’s Word gives us some explicit instructions of how to get involved in God’s method. God chose this method. To call things that are not as though they were. He chose spiritual forces. You know, He created the universe out of faith-filled words. He didn’t create it out of nothing. He created it out of something. He created it out of His faith. And God’s faith is not nothing. It’s something. Go with me to 2 Corinthians. Now, these are the foundation scriptures. This will pretty well take care of the foundation scriptures. Let’s read from 2 Corinthians, the fourth chapter. Let’s read verse 13, then we’ll skip down and read verse 17 and 18. Paul speaking, he says, “…we having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed and therefore have I spoken. We also believe and therefore speak.” Do you know why you say things that you say? You know, sometimes you say, Well, I’ll tell you what. You watch and see. It’s not going to work out. Now, the reason you’re saying that is because you believe in it. And the more you say it, the more you’ll believe it. The same spirit of faith. As we believe, we speak. Now, come down to verse 17. Our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding eternal weight of glory, while we look not at things that are seen… but at things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal. Now you can’t see faith, can you? You may see the action of faith, but you can’t see faith. Faith is the substance of things hoped for as evidence of things not seen. Faith… is the divine energy of God. It is what God used to create the universe. The world was created by faith-filled words. God’s words spoke the universe into existence. Jesus is called the Word of God. The Word was made flesh and dwelt among us. The Word was with God. The Word was God. All things were made by Him. Without Him was not anything made that was made. And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us. so this word of God created all things faith in God’s word is capable of changing things by using God’s faith God’s divine energy from his word and speaking it in word form now that’s what Jesus is referring to when he’s talking about if you had faith as a seed you would say because the same spirit of faith says as you believe you speak So if you had faith as a seed, you would say to the problem that faces you, be removed. You’ll not hinder me any longer. But somebody says, but it is hindering you. I know it. That’s the reason I’m saying you are not hindering me. Now some of you didn’t get that. Somebody said, how in the world can you say that you won’t hinder me anymore when it’s hindering you all the time? That’s all the more reason I’m going to say it. Because I’m calling the thing that’s not. The thing that’s not is that it’s not removed. That’s the reason I’m calling it removed. You are removed. You’ll not hinder me any longer. You’ll disappear, depart, dematerialize, be gone. Somebody said, oh, but Brother Capps, you’ve got to say it like it is. Oh, no. That’s not what the Bible says. That’s what man will tell you. You just got to say it like it is. Now, why would you want to establish the present circumstance? Why would Abraham want to go around and say, I’m old, I’m too old to have a child, too old to have a child, too old to have a child, too old to have a child? Somebody said, what are you doing? Oh, he said, I’m just saying it like it is. Yeah, and he’d ended up like Zacharias too. Struck dumb for nine months or 25 years because it’s 25 years before it happened. You remember what happened to Zacharias? He said, you’re going to have to give me a sign when the angel came and said, your wife’s going to conceive and bear a child. Now they’ve been praying for a child. Been believing for it. The angel came and said, now your prayer’s answered. You’d have thought he’d had a Holy Ghost fit, wouldn’t you? But he said, how do I know you’re telling the truth? Give me a sign. He said, I’m going to give you a sign, all right. You’re going to be dumb and not be able to speak until the day it comes to pass. We’re going to stop this unbelief here and now. Some of us would have been a lot better off if we’d have been struck dumb a few times. Well, you need to know when to speak and when to not speak. There’s a time to be silent and there’s a time to speak. But God’s method is this, that you call the thing that is not. Now here’s where the misunderstanding comes. You know, people don’t always hear what you say. They hear what they thought you said. And then again, you get it passed down about three different generations, you know. Somebody told somebody what they heard somebody say they thought they heard somebody say they thought they heard them say. And then it gets kind of twisted around. And what happened is you get a lot of people out here calling things that are as though they’re not. Now see, some of you missed that. You didn’t notice the difference. God’s method is to call the thing that’s not manifest as though it were manifest until it is manifest. But when you just deny what exists, that’s not God’s method. And we’ve had a lot of that. I’ve probably done it myself. I mean, if you made a mistake, join the club. We’ve all made mistakes. But we’re learning. See, we’re getting new illumination on old revelation. God’s Word is continually giving us light. So if we call the thing that’s not manifest, we call it until it is manifest. What will it do to what is manifest? It’ll reduce it to nothing, Paul says. Isn’t that what naught means? Naught means nothing. Zero. absolutely dematerialized, gone, disappeared. So you call for the thing that’s not manifest until it is manifest. Now what are we talking about calling? Let’s get this understood. We’re talking about calling the things that God’s given us. We’re not talking about trying to get something God doesn’t want us to have. This is what we get criticized sometimes. They say, oh, you’re just teaching people to get things. Well, 2 Peter chapter 1, it says, God has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness through the knowledge of him that has called him to glory and virtue, whereby are given to us exceeding great and precious promises, that by these you might be partakers of the divine nature. Now what’s he saying? He said the way that God has given unto us all things is through the exceeding great and precious promises. Right? This is God’s word to us. This is where our supernatural hope comes from. If you don’t have what God has promised, then go to the word of God and get you some supernatural hope. And besides that, confess it until the supernatural faith comes. Because there’s enough faith in every promise in the word of God. to cause the manifestation of it in your life and in the life of every person on the face of the earth, and there’d still be as much faith in us as there was when it started. Now God’s made the provision for us. Now His method for us entering into this is through faith. Faith is the substance of things hoped for. It’s the evidence of things not seen. It is an eternal force. It is capable of causing the manifestation of the natural thing that you have need of that God has already promised and given to you. Faith is the divine energy of God. Can you see that? God bless you. We do appreciate you joining us for the Concepts of Faith broadcast today. We’re talking about calling things that are not as though they were. We have CD offer number 7215. It’s two CDs for $15 plus $4 postage and handling, total of $19. It’s entitled, Calling Things That Are Not As Though They Were. In this series, we teach you the principle of the Bible that so many people know very little about. It’s called calling things that are not. Did you know that Jesus operated in this principle in all of his ministry? But yet you could study the Bible for years and not even notice it unless you studied from this angle. See, we even climbed the mountain from two or three different sides so you get a different view. See, so many people, they say, well, you know, the Bible says that we’re to speak the truth. Well, now, what is the truth, though? You see, they say, we just have to say it like it is. And, you know, every time we save any money, all the kids come down sick and have to spend every dime on doctor bills. That’s the way it is every time. Well, now, the Bible also says you can have what you say if you believe and doubt not in your heart. Believe what you say and it’ll come to pass. So faith cometh by hearing. If you keep saying that, you’re going to have great faith in and spending all your money on doctor bills and having nothing left over to pay your rent or to pay your bills. But you see, if you will call the things that are not, what do you call for? Call for what you don’t have. Call for what the Word of God promises you that you don’t have. The Scripture says, “…if you give, it will be given unto you, good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over. Men will give unto your bosom.” and it says that you’re like a tree planted by the rivers of water, and whatever you do will prosper. No weapon formed against you will prosper. That’s what ought to be coming out of your mouth. You might say, yeah, but you see, I don’t have abundance. Well, proclaim abundance based on the authority of the Word of God.
