Corner Cafe: Your Connection to Worship Leaders, Bands & Artists in Colorado

Saturday May 7

Jon Elliott Henderson Jr. (Jonnie) was born in Pittsburgh, PA. on December 06, 1965. His musical influences range from artists like Stevie Wonder, Pat Matheny, Led Zeppelin to Mercy Me, Jeremy Camp, and Casting Crowns. Jonnie has embarked on many daring pursuits over his life time. Since early childhood, Jonnie has loved the game of football. He started playing at the age of nine. By the age of twenty-one, Jonnie had lettered at Glassboro State College as a freshman. One year later, with the help of Jon Sr., Jonnie tried out for The B. C. Lions (C.F.L.). The tryout went great, but the team filled the ten Americans quota with the more needed positions. Following that, Jonnie was drafted to the N.F.L. sponsored Professional Spring Football League to play wide receiver for The Oregon Lightning Bolts under head coach and former Denver Bronco quarterback Craig Morton. Unfortunately, the league folded due to a failed television contract with TNT. Jon then decided to pursue a career as a Chef. A little over a year later, Jonnie graduated from The Colorado Institute of Art at The School of Culinary Arts earning culinary certifications and an associate’s degree. While in culinary school, Jonnie found a new love. Her name is Music. So Jonnie co-founded and wrote most of the music for a Denver band called the Moodswingers. The band played several of Denver's venues while also organizing several charity events featuring local talent to benefit local and national charities. At one of the events (The Concert for UNICEF) The Moodswingers were honored to perform the song "Sunshine" by the legendary classic rock band Cream with drummer, Ginger Baker. The Moodswingers also opened for Molly Hatchet, and performed at The Whiskey A Go Go and The Roxy in Hollywood, CA. Unfortunately, as bands often do, the Moodswingers' journey ended. In 2003, Jonnie decided to answer a long time inward call: "to use his gifts exclusively for the Lord Jesus Christ". He started a small indie label called Jesus Loves, Entertainment. Jonnie feels that there is not much 'God honoring entertainment and art' out there these days. In many Christian communities, being entertained is considered 'catering to the flesh', therefore too much fun! The goal at Jesus Loves Entertainment is to use the talents and gifts God has given us in ways which honor Him. Jesus Loves, Entertainment started with music and hope to expand to acting, comedy, and whatever else God has for us! Look for us in the future. We'll be making a joyful noise to the Lord! Jonnie also has since been Worship Leader at Calvary Chapel Green Valley Ranch in Colorado and now is an interim worship leader at churches and ministries who will have him and performs at various festivals and events. His soon to be released CD will consist of some of the songs Jonnie released as singles and some new releases including his rendition of some old hymns. In the music you can expect to hear echoes of the many stepping stones Jonnie has had over the years. You’ll hear the influences of rock, soul, blues, folk, and delta blues, all expressing the Life lessons God has walked him through in song. In Jonnie's own words: "Music is a God given gift to us all. Like all of His gifts, God wants us to know the One who gives. Without that, we will surely be lost. In Him, life and all it has to offer is made perfect, just as He designed it to be. From the pros to the shower vocalist and air guitarist, music touches us because it is one of God's many gifts to us. Focus on The One who gives, and watch how Life touches you like never before.”
